How to Get Point Blank Kills in Black Ops 7
Looking to get the mastery camos in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7? Then you’re going to need to grind out a lot of different types of kills for every weapon in the game. However, developer Treyarch has decided to mix it up a bit this year, requiring players to get Point Blank Kills with shotguns to unlock each one’s ‘military camo.’ As such, some players may be wondering what they need to do to not only get Point Blank Kills in Black Ops 7, but how to make the whole process that little bit easier.
What Counts as a Point Blank Kill in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7?
A Point Blank Kill is earned by killing an enemy with your gun when you’re within melee distance of them. In other words, you more or less want your gun to be touching the enemy when you kill them. This might sound relatively straightforward, but actually getting that close to an enemy without them (or one of their teammates) killing you first is quite difficult.
Tips for Getting Point Blank Kills Easily in Black Ops 7
There are a few different ways you can make getting Point Blanks easier in Black Ops 7:
- Sprint and slide
- Equip the right perks
- Use flashbangs
- Play the right game modes
Sprint and Slide
Sprinting and sliding towards your target makes you a lot more difficult to hit and can help you close the distance to them a lot faster than just running or walking up to them. The slide (press B on Xbox or Circle on PlayStation while sprinting) is crucial here, as it makes you a much smaller target to hit and gives you a tiny boost right as you’re closing the distance down.
Equip the Right Perks
Choosing the right perks can make getting Point Blank Kills significantly easier, as they can help you creep up to enemies undetected by allowing you to move faster, more quietly, or become undetectable by enemy Scout Pulses and UAVs when you’re moving. Others can help you track down enemies faster, which can be particularly useful on larger maps to help avoid wasting time trying to find enemies in the first place. I’ve listed some of these perks below to help you out.
- Lightweight – Increased movement speed. Jump, slide, and dive further. Faster recovery from sliding and diving.
- Ghost – Undetectable by enemy Scout Pulse and UAV when moving.
- Ninja – Move more quietly.
- Hunter’s Instinct – Killing an enemy marks the direction of the next closest enemy on your minimap.
- Tac Sprinter – Enables Tactical Sprint but reduces your normal sprint speed.
- Tracker – See rough locations of nearby enemies on your minimap and see their footsteps in the world.
Some of these perks can’t be equipped at the same time as they’re within the same slot. As such, you’ll need to figure out which ones work best for you.
Use Flashbangs
Having a throwable item that can blind or disorient your target is incredibly helpful for getting Point Blank Kills in Black Ops 7. Flashbangs (and even smoke grenades) are great for this, especially when used in a congested area with a few enemies in close proximity. Throw one towards them, sprint in, and you can get a few easy Point Blank Kills in one fell swoop.
These come in even more clutch if you use them in objective-based game modes. Which leads me to…
Play the Right Game Modes
Just because you’re trying to rack up kills quickly doesn’t mean that you should just play Team Deathmatch. Focus on objective-based game modes where the games will last for a long time, and opponents will naturally head to specific locations, such as Hardpoint or Domination. This makes it easier to get into close-quarters combat with them, and combined with the handy flashbang, you’ll be able to get up close and get that Point Blank Kill before they even know what happened.
