LEGO is Going to Release One of Its Coolest Sets in 2026
Depending on what era you grew up in, you may have a different view on LEGO, but we all have some memory of the brick-building brand. Whether it was the elaborate sets that celebrated popular IP or making your own creations out of stray pieces, LEGO has become a continued source of entertainment regardless of your age, and a hobby that can get pretty expensive. And things are only going to get worse for gamers, as LEGO has something big planned for 2026.
There have already been some pretty incredible LEGO sets for gamers released over the last few years, from the LEGO Game Boy to the numerous Fortnite sets. LEGO even created an interactive series of Mario sets that allow you to collect coins while exploring different environments. Minecraft has been a huge hit for LEGO, with sets themed after both the game and the movie. But my personal favorite from all the LEGO gaming sets released thus far is the LEGO Legend of Zelda Deku Tree set. And, in 2026, LEGO has another set planned that should be even more exciting.
LEGO Will Release a Second Legend of Zelda Set in 2026
LEGO recently teased the LEGO Legend of Zelda set with a short video featuring some pretty telling details. While LEGO is keeping official details under wraps, we can speculate on what the set with entail based on that video.
First and foremost, we know that the LEGO Legend of Zelda set is coming in 2026, but when exactly is unclear. Usually, the timing of a LEGO announcement can be anywhere from right before release to almost a full year in advance. That LEGO Game Boy, for example, was first teased in January and didn’t release until October. So, while fans hope that the LEGO Legend of Zelda set will release in the early part of 2026, there is no guarantee that it will. Similar to the Game Boy set, we might be looking at first this tease, then a full reveal much later, before a full launch a few months after that.
As far as the content of the LEGO Legend of Zelda set, the video features Link with Navi hovering above him and a shadow-y figure approaching. Based on the design of his tunic, the Master Sword, and the Hylian shield, the assumption is that this is Link from The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, which feels like a safe guess considering that game’s popularity.
You can also make out Zelda in the background, but she’s out of focus, and it’s hard to pull any details from her design. It does look like grown-up Zelda from Ocarina of Time, based on the silhouette.
That shadow, though, is key because it suggests that this LEGO Legend of Zelda set will feature Ganondorf in some form. The size of the shadow and assuming that this will be a complex LEGO set, suggests that it will be Ganon in his final form from Ocarina of Time, but it could also be Ganon in his familiar, Gerudo form.
Either way, the diorama-like nature of the scene has me very excited about what this LEGO Legend of Zelda set could be and this is sure to be one of the hot ticket items for the brand in 2026. However, if it is anything like the first Legend of Zelda LEGO set, fans will want to start saving their money now. The Deku Tree LEGO set that was released last year still retails for $299.
It is an incredible LEGO set, though, with options to build either the Deku Tree diorama from Ocarina of Time or Breath of the Wild. Based on which scene you want to create, there is a different Link mini-fig (two for OoT) and a Zelda figure for the BotW look. Even the Deku Tree gets a unique look based on which version you want to create. It truly is an impressive LEGO set, and one that set the tone for this latest partnership between Nintendo and the brick-building brand.
With the complex, expensive set box ticked, there is the potential for this second Legend of Zelda LEGO set to come it at a lower, more affordable price point. But LEGO sets these days are rarely what you would call cheap, and when they are targeting older collectors, the price is usually higher. Even if it’s just a Link mini-fig, a Zelda mini-fig, and then the beast Ganon that could be a pretty expensive set. No doubt LEGO would put a lot of detail and pieces into Ganon, but for comparison, the LEGO Bowser set that’s retiring soon was $269.99.
Either way, LEGO has my attention for 2026, and this is my most anticipated set of the year. I thought that the Deku Tree set might be a one-off type deal, but I’m happy to see that Nintendo and LEGO are planning more collaborations, even if my wallet isn’t.
