How to Exit Volt Forge & Where to Go Next in Metroid Prime 4
As players of the Metroid franchise will know, the series prides itself on presenting the player with a wide range of options, and allowing them the freedom to choose where to go next. This is precisely what happens in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond once you complete the game’s second major dungeon, Volt Forge. After unlocking the new motorcycle, Vi-O-La, players will first need to exit the labyrinthine forge towers, which will lead to the new open desert area, Sol Valley. This largely sparse wasteland acts as a hub for several main dungeons. In this guide, we’ll show you how to exit Volt Forge, and where to go next.

Samus will need to get the generator running at Volt Forge to put Vi-O-La together.

Retrace Your Steps:
Once you defeat Xelios, the boss in Volt Forge, you’ll need to head back to the elevator that brought you down through the Test Circuits. Once you reach the elevator, you’ll want to return to the Test Circuit Security level. Once you reach the top of the lift, you should recognize the area from when you entered.
You’ll have two options for where to take Vi-O-La. To find the right path, scan the signs over the gates. You are looking for the path that reads Tower 3 to Tower 1. This will take you back to the first tower you entered. Head out to the main courtyard, where you’ll notice the Vi-O-La spinner station is raised and locked with a purple force-field. This is where some players might get stuck, as the solution is not immediately clear.
If you stand facing the exit gate, and look up to the left, you’ll see a small platform with an opening for the Morph Ball form. Use the new Psychic Boots to double-jump and reach the platform, then use the bomb you’ve unlocked in the socket at the end of the path. This will remove the force field from the platform and allow you to use the spinner to open the exit gate.
You can now leave the Volt Forge and make your way onto what’s next.

Heat Things Up with the Fire Shot:
You’ll likely want to wait to return to Fury Green until after you’ve unlocked the Fire Chip at the Flare Pool dungeon. You’ll need to return to Fury Green once you’ve collected this item anyway, so it’s worth it to wait until you can use the Fire Shot along with the new Psychic Boots and Bomb.
Once you exit the Volt Forge dungeon, you’ll find yourself in Sol Valley, with at least the appearance of several options as to what to do and where to go next. However, there is essentially one location that you must visit before you can truly move on to other dungeons: Flare Pool.
Flare Pool is the major flame-based dungeon that is found in the south-east corner of the map. You will not be able to explore the whole dungeon yet, as you will not yet have the suit upgrade that allows you to traverse lava. You will, however, be able to unlock the Fire Shot arm cannon upgrade before you leave.
To do this, make your way down the main path in Flare Pool, which leads to a bridge-crossing cutscene. Once that plays out, you’ll be forced to turn around and exit the same way you entered. As you leave, you’ll see another cutscene that reveals a previously-locked door is now open. Defeat the enemies that exit, then follow the path through the door to the end.
At the end of the path, you’ll find a large crane with a red glowing light at the end. Use the platforms to jump up on the crane, then use the Morph Ball to make your way to the tip of the crane. Drop a bomb and the glowing item will fall to the ground. Collect the Fire Chip, then exit Flare Pool the same way you entered.
Once you leave Flare Pool, you’ll receive a message from Myles asking you to return to home base. Head back to Fury Green and use the Cargo Launcher to fast-travel to the opposite end of the dungeon, which is closest to home base. Myles will use the Fire Chip to unlock the new Fire Shot
Once you’ve unlocked the Fire Shot, which is the first of three elemental weapons, you can head to the Ice Belt in the northwest corner of the Sol Valley. You can also explore Fury Green and collect several previously blocked expansion items.
