Metroid Prime 4 has players return to the first-person shoes of famous intergalactic bounty hunter, Samus Aran. This new Metroid adventure comes paired with some striking new amiibo as well, each with their own unique rewards to unlock—though they aren’t all usable right from the start.

All Metroid Prime 4 Amiibo Unlocks & Rewards
Metroid Prime 4 launched with three game-specific amiibo:
- Samus Aran (Metroid Prime 4 Beyond)
- Samus and Vi-O-La (Metroid Prime 4 Beyond)
- Sylux (Metroid Prime 4 Beyond)
Samus Aran (Metroid Prime 4 Beyond) Amiibo Unlocks
Scanning the Samus Aran amiibo for Metroid Prime 4 will unlock an Energy Shield. This can only be used once per day, so after you scan it, you’ll be prompted whether or not you want to activate it. The Energy Shield restores Samus’ energy and absorbs a total of 99 damage before becoming depleted.
The Samus Aran (Metroid Prime 4) amiibo will also unlock a jukebox for when you’re riding around on your bike (usable only after completing Volt Forge). Upon scanning the amiibo, you will unlock three different themes:
- Vi-O-La Theme
- Volt Forge Theme
- Xelios Theme
After beating the game, you’ll unlock two additional tracks for the jukebox: Metroid Prime theme and Metroid Prime 4 theme.
Samus and Vi-O-La (Metroid Prime 4 Beyond) Amiibo Unlocks
Scanning the Samus and Vi-O-La amiibo for Metroid Prime 4 will unlock a series of rewards:
- You will gain a once-per-day Boost Recovery for the bike, only usable in Sol Valley.

You will also gain an odometer feature for Vi-O-La (also accessible after completing Volt Forge), which keeps track of your total distance travel on the bike.
- For every 50,000 meters you travel on Vi-O-La, you will unlock a new skin theme for the bike that changes its appearance, with the potential to unlock seven new skins for Vi-O-La (eight themes in total, including the default).

Sylux (Metroid Prime 4 Beyond) Amiibo Unlocks
- Scanning the Sylux (Metroid Prime 4) amiibo will play random lines from the titular character.
- It will also unlock an extended cutscene that compiles all the game’s separate cutscenes into one video (accessed via the Gallery).
Without the Sylux amiibo, you can still unlock this extended cutscene as a reward for completing 100% of the game; the amiibo simply unlocks it much more quickly.
All Metroid Series Amiibo Unlocks
Previous Metroid series amiibo also unlock certain rewards. They might not be as exciting or impactful as the ones specific to Metroid Prime 4, but they still offer fun Easter eggs for fans to enjoy. Scanning any of the Metroid series amiibo below will play one of five Metroid sound effects (selected randomly).

How to Scan Amiibo in Metroid Prime 4 Beyond
While you’re playing Metroid Prime 4, simply enter the game’s menus (-) and tab left or right until you reach the ‘amiibo’ screen. The screen might only show the three Metroid Prime 4 amiibo, but all Metroid series amiibo can be scanned here. Press ‘Scan amiibo’ and tap any of the Metroid series amiibo to the NFC reader (indicated on the second image above), and you’re all set!
