How to Beat Sylux at the Volt Forge in Metroid Prime 4 Beyond

By newsgame

Following his debut in Metroid Prime Hunters and a brief appearance during the special ending of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Sylux serves as the main antagonist of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. He first shows up during the game’s prologue, though players will run into him on multiple occasions throughout the course of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

How to Unlock the Motorcycle in Metroid Prime 4 Beyond (Vi-O-La Guide)

Players will unlock the Vi-O-La while exploring the Volt Forge, around two hours or so into the main story.

The second Sylux encounter comes during the second part of the Volt Forge area shortly after players have restored power to Tower 2. Initially, the fight seems pretty simple, but that all changes when Sylux unleashes his green spin attack, which is completely immune to Samus’ beams and missiles. Thankfully, there is a way to counter it.

The first part of the Sylux fight is pretty easy. Players just need to jump over the green shockwaves and strafe left and right to avoid melee attacks, all while peppering Sylux with charge shots and missiles. However, once he gets down to around 75% health, he’ll start using his green spin attack, which goes on indefinitely and is completely immune to beam shots and missiles.

When this happens, players will need to hit Sylux with a Psychic Bomb to interrupt his spin attack. To do so, they should press Y to enter Morph Ball mode and then press A to drop a Psychic Bomb. After hitting Sylux with a few bombs, he’ll go back to his regular attack pattern, although will occasionally switch back to the spin attack again later on. Whenever he does so, players can just use more Psychic Bombs to stun him and then go back to regular blasts.

Sylux moves pretty fast when he’s performing his spin attack, and his movement can be quite hard to predict. To increase the chances of hitting him, players should stay near the outer wall of the battle arena and spin around in a circle, dropping bombs whenever he gets near or prepares his zip attack.

After depleting Sylux’ health bar, it’s revealed that he was merely projecting himself onto a regular droid. The fight wasn’t for nothing, though, as players will be rewarded with an Energy Tank for their troubles. As series fans should already know, this increases Samus’ maximum health by 100, which will come in useful during some of the many battles to come.
