ARC Raiders Disables Hidden Bunker Map Modifier

By newsgame

ARC Raiders developer Embark Studios has been forced to disable the Hidden Bunker map modifier as it investigates a fix for another game-breaking exploit related to the event. The Hidden Bunker modifier is one of the numerous mini-style events available in ARC Raiders, but players won’t find it currently in rotation as reports emerged of a serious glitch that was essentially making the event pointless for much of the community.

Embark Studios was established in 2018 by former Battlefield developers and numerous industry veterans. After finding success with its first title, The Finals, the studio ventured into the extraction shooter genre this year with the release of ARC Raiders. Despite the fact that it launched between Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, two of the biggest FPS franchises of all-time, ARC Raiders has been dominating on Steam. Embark’s second title remains one of the most-played games on the platform, averaging between 300,000 and 400,000 peak players every day, putting it firmly above the likes of Battlefield 6, Apex Legends, Call of Duty, and many other titles.

ARC Raiders Bounty System Wouldn't Work Why-1

Why an ARC Raiders Bounty System Wouldn’t Work as Well as You Think

Players keep asking for a bounty system in ARC Raiders, but the idea creates more problems and risks pulling the game away from what makes it work.

ARC Raiders Disabled Hidden Bunker Map Modifier

Unfortunately, despite ARC Raiders‘ rave reviews and high player count, the extraction shooter has still had its fair share of issues. Its latest is another game-breaking exploit that has led Embark to disable the Hidden Bunker map modifier from rotation. In a new message on the official ARC Raiders Discord, a studio representative said it has “temporarily disabled Hidden Bunker from the rotation to prevent unfair exploits.” Embark didn’t specify what the exploit is, but it said it’s currently working on a fix. A timeline for when the map modifier may return, along with a fix for the exploit, was also not shared.

For those who might be unaware, the Hidden Bunker map modifier is a mini event for ARC Raiders that rotates every few hours. Unlike others, the Hidden Bunker modifier is exclusive to Spaceport and allows access to an underground bunker system, but only if players can first activate all of the rooftop antenna dishes around the map to unlock it. Players can work together or separately to activate all of the antenna dishes, and once activated, the hidden bunker will then become accessible, where some high-value loot awaits.

As mentioned previously, Embark did not confirm what the exploit was that has caused the studio to disable the modifier, but it is speculated to be another glitch that was allowing players to get out of the map. Although these types of exploits are already bad enough as is, players who were doing it on Hidden Bunker were gaining access to the bunker without having to follow the aforementioned steps, thus ruining the experience for other players.

Sadly, this is just one of the many exploits that have been running rampant in ARC Raiders over the last few weeks. Stella Montis, the game’s newest map, currently has an out-of-map exploit, as well as the exact same issue on Blue Gate. These glitches are allowing players to glitch their way out of the map and eliminate other players without the risk of being killed themselves. And in a game like ARC Raiders, where dying means losing all of your gear and loot, it makes it an incredibly serious issue.

Thankfully, Embark has been fixing issues as they arise. The studio received massive praise for a recent ARC Raiders update, which added an exploit mitigation mechanism after players were glitching their way into locked rooms without a keycard. While the glitch is still possible to do, players who do it will be immediately set on fire.
