Dispatch Season 2 Wish List

By newsgame

This article contains MAJOR spoilers for Dispatch.

Now that all episodes of Dispatch have been released, it’s clear that AdHoc Studio has a very special IP on its hands. Not only has Dispatch been able to recapture the fantastic writing and choice-based gameplay of classic Telltale games like The Wolf Among Us, but it also introduces a new world full of beloved characters that are just begging for more stories to be told about them. While a Dispatch Season 2 hasn’t been confirmed yet, there are plenty of directions it could take to build upon episode 8’s finale.

Despite Dispatch having multiple different endings that players can achieve depending on their choices, each ending remains open-ended enough that a second season would have a lot to work with. Developer AdHoc has responded to calls for a Dispatch Season 2, saying it is a possibility, and actor Aaron Paul, voice of Robert Robertson, has stated that he wants to do more with the character. Until a second season is officially confirmed, fans can only speculate on what their dream scenario would be for a continuation of the Z-Team’s story.

Things That Should Be Included in Dispatch Season 2

  • New dispatcher
  • Mecha Man as a dispatchable hero
  • A canon ending
  • New Z-Team members

A New Dispatcher

While it would be controversial, Dispatch Season 2 could work wonders with a new dispatcher at the helm — specifically Mandy, without her Blonde Blazer powers. At the end of Dispatch Episode 8, Blonde Blazer gives up her amulet so that Chase can be revitalized and use his super speed in a move Shroud would be unable to predict. Afterwards, Mandy and Robert speculate on what to do with the amulet, since it seems to be keeping Chase alive. Perhaps a second Dispatch season could see Chase keep the amulet for the time being, leaving a powerless Mandy to fill in as a new dispatcher.

Mecha Man as a Dispatchable Hero

If Mandy moves into the role of dispatcher, there would be room for Robert to get out into the field himself. With the Mecha Man suit repaired — and presumably the real Astral Pulse recovered from Shroud — Robert would have all the tools he needs to lead the Z-Team from the front lines instead of behind the desk. It would be interesting to see how Mecha Man’s powers function in the context of Dispatch‘s management simulation gameplay, and a second season could give fans the chance to experience that gameplay.

A Canon Ending

In order for a second season of Dispatch to work, it’s likely that AdHoc would have to commit to a canon ending for the first season. Whether players choose to end up with Blonde Blazer or Invisigal, and whether Invisigal stays a hero or embraces villainy, would need to be nailed down. Ideally, the ending where Invisigal becomes a villain after killing Shroud would lend itself to a second season the best. The story of Dispatch Season 2 could involve trying to track down the remnants of the Red Ring and Invisigal in an attempt to redeem her and bring her back to the Z-Team.

New Z-Team Members

A new season of Dispatch wouldn’t be complete without a fresh set of faces on the Z-Team for players to get to know. As SDN tries to rehabilitate more villains through the Phoenix Program, some former foes from the first season would make ideal candidates to join the squad. Lightningstruck would be an obvious addition after being apprehended in Dispatch Episode 3, and Thumbstick would be another hilarious new teammate, especially if Robert helps him with his little problem during the events of Episode 8. While the original Z-Team members should stick around for a second season, expanding the roster to include new former villains would go a long way toward building upon the ideals of the first season.
