How To Solve False Accusations in Where Winds Meet
In Where Winds Meet, the world is alive and breathing, and both NPCs and players are subjected to the law of the regions they explore, so committing crimes will place a ‘wanted mark’ over their heads. In the case of players, this will flag them as ‘Criminals,’ and they can be hunted down by other players. But how does the Bounty System work exactly?
In a game as complex and big as WWM, with many core mechanics and subsystems to understand, the Bounties and False Accusations are a burdensome problem that players need to solve quickly, unless they want to be hunted down. Learn everything about Law Enforcement in the Jianghu and Qinghe regions with our guide.
How Do Bounties Work in Where Winds Meet
In Where Winds Meet, players can suddenly get flagged as Criminals for committing actions like Trespassing, Selling Forbidden Products, and purchasing from shady NPCs; however, the worst possible offenses are being caught stealing, causing harm to others, or murdering NPCs.
When that happens, if there are witnesses, players will soon be flagged as Criminals, and a warning sign will pop up in the upper-left corner of the screen. Just by clicking over it by releasing the cursor, players will find all the information on their committed offense, and how to ‘make amends‘ before it’s too late.
The first time players are caught, they will be sent to Jail and imprisoned for a certain amount of In-Game time. Alternatively, players can also participate in a daily event called ‘The Pardon Parade,’ which is basically a walk of shame where both NPCs and players will boo at them while they are tied inside a cage riding a cart. Repeated offenders will be sentenced for longer periods of time, and will require more time doing the Pardon Parade to atone for their sins, so be careful.
Now, there are two possible resolutions for this:
- Players should seek a particular NPC and pay a fine.
- Players should hire a ‘Scholar’ to solve certain cases for them, paying Bounty Tokens.
Bounty Tokens are obtained through Weekly Activities in the Warrior’s Journey Tab, or purchased in the Jinaghu Treasure Shop. They can also be received by either capturing wanted NPCs, or Wanted Players who refuse to pay the fine/solve the accusations.
To do this, travel to any of the major Hubs in the game (Towns) and visit the Bounty Board, accessible when players reach Level 25. Players will notice a considerable number of requests, from Solving False Accusations to finding the culprits behind certain criminal activity.
Players can also participate in other types of Bounties, like Healing Players with the Healer Profession. And Bounty Tokens can be exchanged at a special shop inside the Bounty Boards for Consumables and Cosmetics.
How to Solve False Accusations in Where Winds Meet
Once in a while, players might be Falsely Accused of a crime, and this will be indicated in the Bounty Status (remember, upper left corner, warning sign). When this happens, players need to place a Bounty using the same Bounty Status Window and ask for a player with a high level in Scholarship to solve this false accusation.
Paying a Bounty Token per False Accusation is the norm for minor crimes, but other crimes like murder or theft might require more than just one. Usually, players have 22 Hs. of In-game time to solve the false accusation (When in Solo Mode) or 1 Hour of Real-life time, when accused of a crime while playing in the Online Mode.
After that, their heads will acquire a Bounty, and both NPCs and players will be hunting them down for sport. So, the best course of action is to solve this as soon as possible, to live a life of freedom in Where Winds Meet.
The Bounty System is a little bit buggy and might be unfair, as higher-tier players can freely hunt down NPC killers and criminals, and they’ll be at a great advantage. We will update this guide as soon as the devs release patches to balance it out.
