Marvel Rivals Streamer Gets Her Dog to Heal Her Team

By newsgame

A Marvel Rivals streamer created an amusing gameplay experiment, playing the game while getting their dog to provide heals. While not as effective as a human controlling the character, the gameplay footage of the two playing Marvel Rivals is charming the internet.

Marvel Rivals has slipped in concurrent player count since its explosive entrance to the gaming scene, but the game is still quite popular. Season 5 of Marvel Rivals kicked off on November 14, bringing Gambit to the game as a playable character, with Rogue slated for a future update.

Marvel Rivals Player Teams Up With Their Dog

Marvel Rivals addresses controversial changes coming to Thor and Jeff the Land Shark.

Twitch streamer poopernoodle, who normally streams while their dog Pea hangs out with them, decided to play the game with their dog. To do so, the streamer chose Jeff the Land Shark and set up a button that the dog could press with its paw to activate his healing bubbles. Her dog seems to already be button trained, with a warm-up showing the dog pressing it on command for a treat. The streamer went straight into gameplay, asking the dog to press the button whenever she wanted to use the healing skill. To her delight, Pea successfully followed the commands, and even went so far as to trigger the button at random, likely hoping for an extra treat for doing so.

To further add to the charm, poopernoodle actually won the match that her dog was helping her in. As one might expect, though, Pea wasn’t actually the best at healing in Marvel Rivals, only applying about 800 healing over the course of the entire match. However, that hasn’t stopped it from becoming a hit with viewers, with the clip seeing over 1.1 million views on Twitter alone. The response has been so positive that poopernoodle plans to go on stream with her dog participating again on November 27. They will be playing a different game together this time, though the streamer hasn’t announced what it will be just yet.

While the notion of allowing a pet to play alongside their master in a video game might seem silly, this isn’t the first instance of someone getting an animal to play a game. Earlier in the 2020s, a Japanese Twitch streamer hooked up a fish tank with controls, and allowed their four fish to take turns playing Pokemon Sapphire. They triggered the buttons on a Game Boy Advance by swimming to certain locations in the tank. Stunningly, even though it took over 3,000 hours, the fish actually managed to beat Pokemon Sapphire, making the involvement of Pea in Marvel Rivals look almost mundane by comparison.
