Battlefield 6 Has a Humorous Helldivers 2-Style Visual Glitch

By newsgame

On rare occasions, Battlefield 6 players report seeing an impressive visual glitch when destroying vehicles that would likely make the denizens of Super Earth proud. It’s been an up and down journey to this point for Battlefield 6, getting off to an impressive start at launch, while also continuing to balance the expectations of its player base.

While the launch of Battlefield 6 was much smoother than many previous games in the franchise, it wasn’t perfect. Battlefield 6 managed to earn an impressive launch in terms of player engagement, but some services like the EA App weren’t up to the challenge. As the app displayed error messages to those trying to log in, the issue was eventually resolved, with EA promising compensation to those impacted. The day has arrived and EA is giving Battlefield 6 players their compensation for the trouble, though the work on fixing various issues that continue to plague the game continues.

Battlefield 6 Has An Orbital Laser Visual Glitch

However, not every bug or glitch in a game is inherently bad. Take, for example, the visual bug that can randomly happen when destroying vehicles after they’ve been painted by Battlefield 6‘s laser designator tool. As captured by Xhamy on Reddit, a helicopter has been highlighted for teammates by a player’s designator, which helps rockets become guided to the target. In this case, just as the rocket finished off the helicopter, a red laser beam seemingly comes out of nowhere from the sky, making it look like the vehicle was decimated by the beam.

Naturally, players have likened it to Arrowhead Game Studio’s popular shooter, Helldivers 2. Countless comments referenced Helldivers 2‘s stratagems, specifically the orbital laser which can be called in to significantly damage enemy targets. Some even harkened back to Microsoft’s Gears of War franchise, which features a weapon called the Hammer of Dawn that allows players to call down a destructive laser beam to handle mobs or enemies or perhaps a tankier enemy like a Berserker.

Regardless, fans seem to appreciate this visual glitch, finding it to be rewarding considering how rarely it happens. The Battlefield franchise has a history of Easter eggs and hidden features that have originated from within the community and fans are hopeful that this is somehow preserved instead of being patched out in a future update.

While Battlefield Studios have been relatively fast in adjusting or updating elements of the game, fans have been equally quick to point out things that don’t feel right. For example, the new Eastwood map in Battlefield 6 has a much lower skybox than other maps, forcing air vehicles like helicopters to stay much lower than they otherwise would. Not only does it limit the options a pilot has, it makes them a much easier target to hit for ground troops, especially engineers packing explosive weapons.
