By newsgame

This article contains minor spoilers for Resident Evil Requiem.Resident Evil Requiem players have discovered a cool Easter egg that appears to pay tribute to RE1 and RE0. This small detail is easily missed by Resident Evil Requiem players, but it hasn’t taken long for some to connect the dots and figure out what this Easter egg is referencing.

Although Resident Evil Requiem has only been available for under two weeks, eagle-eyed players have been quick to discover many secrets hidden in Capcom’s latest survival-horror game. There are plenty of small Resident Evil Requiem Easter eggs, and their hidden nature means that there are likely more that players are yet to discover. Some are hidden in plain sight, while others require a little bit of interpretation to figure out what they mean. This latest Easter egg falls into the latter category.

Resident Evil Requiem’s Orphanage Sequence Features RE1 and RE0 References

During Resident Evil Requiem‘s Orphanage section, Redditor Dezeko noticed a few carefully placed items across the floor. The first is a dollhouse, with four small bears heading into it. They believe this is a reference to Chris, Jill, Barry, and Wesker heading into Spencer Mansion in Resident Evil 1. There’s also a small train set next to the dollhouse, which could also be a reference to Rebecca and Billy on the train in Resident Evil Zero. The building blocks next to the item say “1996,” which is Resident Evil 1‘s release year, and “CCC,” which some in the thread theorized was a nod towards developer and publisher Capcom Co.

Many users in the thread felt the connections made a lot of sense, but not everyone was convinced. Others felt as though there were some leaps in logic being made to connect everything together, especially given the fact that all of these items would be expected to be found in an orphanage. It’s definitely possible that these are all coincidences, but every connection here is pretty plausible. It is easy to write off each one individually, but when placed together, they do appear to be fun RE1 and RE0 references.

That this Easter egg appears to point towards Resident Evil 1 and Zero is particularly interesting. Recently, Resident Evil‘s plans for the next three years seemingly leaked online, pointing towards a potential RE0 remake in 2029. Afterward, rumors surfaced about a full remake of the original Resident Evil, too, suggesting it is still in early development. This Easter egg could be a fun hint at Capcom’s plans for the future of the franchise, and it will be interesting to see if all of this comes to fruition.

Capcom recently confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem DLC is now in development at the studio, following up on the critically-acclaimed survival horror game at a later date. The game continues to enjoy huge player counts, after reviews instantly marked Resident Evil Requiem as one of the best games of the year so far. Very little is known about the next DLC at this point in time, but there will be more content coming to the game before it, too. Capcom has already stated that Photo Mode will soon be added to the game, along with a new mini-game arriving in May 2026.
