How to Get Beans, Tomato, and Wheat in Pokopia for Initiation Challenge

By newsgame

The second Initiation Challenge in Pokemon Pokopia asks you to get 10 Beans, 10 Tomato, and 10 Wheat, but at that point in the story your poor little Ditto might not even have one Bean on hand, let alone the 30 veggies you need to complete this challenge. That’s because you need to reach “Great” Trainer Rank in Pokopia and progress to the Bleak Beach and Rocky Ridges areas to find Tomato and Wheat. We explain how to do this, and more, in our step-by-step guide below on how to get Beans, Tomatoes, and Wheat in Pokemon Pokopia.

There are more than 200 habitats in Pokemon Pokopia. Here’s how to make them all.

Beans are the easiest crop to get in Pokopia, as you only need to find Drilbur in the east side of Withered Wasteland (the starting area) to unlock the Rototiller ability and start planting the Bean seeds that Drilbur gives you. Plus, you can purchase Bean seeds from the PC shop very early on.

That said, it does take days in real-time for crops to grow, (unless a Pokemon with the Grow ability helps, like Bulbasaur) so you might want to leave the planting and go hunting for Tomatoes and Wheat first, as Beans are found growing and ready to pick beside them in later areas. Unless you’re passing time in Pokopia by changing your Switch’s clock, that is.

Some of your Pokemon pals might gift you Beans in the early stages of the game. They’re more likely to do this if their Comfort Level is high. To receive a gift, go and talk to any Pokemon who has a speech bubble above their heads.

How to Get Tomato in Pokopia

You need to reach “Great” Trainer Rank and unlock the gate into Bleak Beach to get Tomatoes in Pokopia. Or, you can increase your Environment Level and unlock more PC sites to purchase Tomato seeds from the PC shop. For most people, it’ll be quicker and easier to get Tomatoes from Bleak Beach, as you need to head here as part of the story anyway.

To increase your Trainer Rank, simply progress through the main story of the game by completing Important Requests. You’ll soon reach Great Rank when you complete the “Yawning Up a Storm” quest. When you do so, head to the eastern gate in Withered Wasteland and interact with the gate panel to pass on through.

From here, it’s easy to get Tomatoes quickly, as you just have to go down the stairs and look to your right to see a patch of soil with some some crops growing there — this is in the northern area by the water, if looking at the map. Use your Water Gun ability on the crops when you get there and then simply pick the Tomatoes off their vines when they turn red. You’ll soon have enough for the Initiation Challenge, as each vine contains three Tomatoes.

Don’t forget to pick the Beans growing by the Tomatoes as well!

How to Get Wheat in Pokopia

You need to reach “Great” Trainer Rank and unlock the path into Rocky Ridges to get Tomatoes in Pokopia. So you can head straight here after picking Tomatoes in Bleak Beach if you’d like to clear the Initiation Challenge as a priority. The gate into Rocky Ridges is located in the northwestern corner of Withered Wasteland, and the Wheat crops in Rocky Ridges can be found opposite the Pokemon Center, on the southern-middle side if looking at the map.

Just like with the Tomatoes, use your Water Gun on the withering crops to return them to their former glory, then pick the Wheat and Beans in this area. If you don’t have enough Wheat to complete the Initiation Challenge after this, you’re going to have to raise your Environment Level and unlock more PC sites to purchase Wheat seeds from the PC shop and plant it yourself.

Remember to bring a Pokemon with the Grow ability (like Bulbasaur) when planting crops, as this makes them sprout up faster. You need to get a Pokemon to follow you in Pokopia to bring them to crops.
