You can find items known as Mysterious Slates in Pokopia by using the Dowsing Machine and a Pokemon with the Search Speciality, like Pidgey. As far as we know, the location of these slates is randomized, so you’ll have to say a prayer to the RNG gods to collect all 27 of them.

What are Mysterious Slates Used for in Pokopia?

You can use the Mysterious Slates in Pokopia to fit into indentations on a wall at the Mysterious Mural. This cave can be found underground, a bit north of the Withered Wasteland Pokemon Center, and has 27 Unown symbols. You can place the slates into the appropriate slots to uncover a Pokopia mystery.

We had some issues actually placing the slate into the appropriate slot, but it helps if you use the ZL button to adjust the position. You need the actual letter facing the wall, and the protruding symbols should face away from the wall. You can stand on some blocks to make it easier, too. You know you got it in the right spot when you hear a jingle and the slate sparkles.

What Happens When You Find All Slates?

We’ve yet to find all 27 Mysterious Slates in Pokopia, but word around the street is that you can befriend the Mythical Pokemon, Mew, if you fully complete the tablet puzzle. We’ll confirm this as we continue to explore.

Where’s the Mysterious Mural?

If you’re at the Pokemon Center in the Wasteland, go and start Rock Smashing the wall to the northeast to find a path to a whole other area of the map that has a water wheel. Right when you enter, look at the wall to your left, and you should spot some basic breakable rocks hiding a concrete cave entrance. Use Rock Smash on it, and you’ll find a staircase leading down to the Mysterious Mural.

How to Find Mysterious Slates in Pokopia

From our experience, the way to find Mysterious Slates is to use the Dowsing Machine with a Pokemon that has the Search Speciality to look for yellow sparkling dig sites. However, you should still be able to find the buried items without the machine’s help.

You’ll get the Dowsing Machine on a hill to the west of the Pokemon Center. As a matter of fact, after you learn Rock Smash from Hitmonchan, they’ll eventually ask you to climb up said hill and check it out. You’ll see a yellow Poke Ball under some breakable rocks, and that is the Dowsing Machine.

Grab the Machine out of your inventory and have Pidgey follow you to start exploring for treasure. If you press the A button, you’ll hear a beep –the faster the beep, the closer you are to a buried goodie.
