How to Get Copper Ore in Pokopia (& What It’s Used For)

By newsgame

As you make your way through Pokemon Pokopia, you’re going to come across a number of different materials and items that can be used to craft more important items or buildings. One of these resources is Copper Ore, which in this raw form isn’t all that useful. However, if you know what to do with it, it will become far more useful as you progress through the game. In this guide, I’ll explain how to get Copper Ore in Pokopia, and what it’s used for.

You’ll need to be friends with Scyther in Pokopia before you cut down pieces of Worn Lumber.

Copper Ore can be obtained by mining blocks that have visible copper in them (typically found in mines or underground), and can also be awarded as a prize from Bulbasaur’s jump rope minigame.

As noted above, Copper Ore is typically found by exploring mines found around the world. The Rocky Ridges mines, for example, can be found near the hot springs just north of the Pokemon Center.

I also had some luck finding Copper Ore by breaking open a block with Rock Smash to let water fill an empty pond below, and then having my Ditto crawl through the water into the cave within the cliff. Here, I found some Copper Ore blocks, as shown in the screenshot below.

Mining copper ore is the easiest way to get a lot of it in Pokopia. However, if you’re also looking for another way to get this useful early-game crafting material, you can also get it from completing Bulbasaur’s jump rope minigame. Every time you get 10 or more jumps, Bulbasaur will give you one Copper Ore.

The Jump Rope minigame can be only be played once a day, so this isn’t a proper alternative to just mining it. When you find a Copper Ore block, you’ll typically find a fair few around it, making it much more time-effective to farm Copper Ore this way.

Unlocking Bulbasaur’s Jump Rope minigame also requires you to increase its Comfort Level and complete their habitat in the Withered Wasteland. When you’ve increased their Comfort Level enough, Bulbasaur will make a comment that you can play jump rope by just telling them.

What Is Copper Ore Used For in Pokemon Pokopia?

Copper Ore can be turned into Copper Ingots by placing it in a Smelting Furnace. Smelting Furnaces can be found dotted around the world ready to be used, or they can be crafted with 4 Stone and 4 Iron Ore.

To use a Smelting Furnace, you’ll need a Pokemon with the Burn Specialty, such as Magmar to come and heat it up. If they’re not already nearby, get your Pokemon to follow you to it by pressing Up on the d-pad when standing in front of them.

Once you’ve done that, place the Copper Ore in the Smelting Furnace and let your Pokemon do the rest of the work. Smelting can take a while, so you’re free to go away and do something else and then return later.

Copper Ingots can be used to make tools such as the Frying Pan, which allows you to complete cooking requests, and are used in crafting recipes for building kits and furniture.
