How to Get Bicycle in Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen

In Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, the Bicycle is a vehicle that allows trainers to travel faster in the world and allows them to access the Cycling Road. There is a shop that sells Bicycles in FRLG, which players will encounter fairly early on in the game. However, the undiscounted price for a Bicycle at this shop is a whopping 1,000,000 Poke Dollars.

The absurd price is one that no trainer can afford to pay, but luckily, there is a way to obtain the Bicycle for free by using a Bike Voucher. This guide covers where to find the Bike Voucher in FRLG and how to use it at the Bike Shop.

How to Get Bicycle in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen

You can get a Bicycle for free in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen by getting a Bike Voucher from the Chairman of the Pokemon Fan Club in Vermilion City and giving it to the Bike Shop owner in Cerulean City in FRLG.

The Pokemon Fan Club is the building with the Pokeball logo directly above the Vermilion Gym, and the Chairman is the older gentleman with the white beard, seated next to the lady on the couch. Talk to him about his interests in Pokemon, and he will give you the Bike Voucher for free.

Reaching Vermilion City

Head to the northeastern corner of Cerulean City and enter the house with the blue roof, which is the one that has a policeman standing guard next to it. Go through the back entrance, and follow the route shown in the screenshot above to reach Route 5.

Enter the Underground Path in the southeastern corner of Route 5, next to the Day Care, and it will lead you to Route 6. Continue southward, and you’ll reach Vermilion City.

If the policeman is blocking the entrance, it means you haven’t yet obtained the S.S. Ticket from Bill on Route 25, who can be found in the Sea Cottage, north of Cerulean City.

Getting the Bike Voucher

Find the Vermilion Gym in the southwestern corner of the city. Directly above it will be a house with a green roof and a Poke Ball logo above its door. Enter inside, and you’ll see four people standing around a table.

The Pokemon Fan Club Chairman is the brown-suited man with the white beard sitting at the head of the table. Talk to him, and he will say a few lines of dialogue about how much he loves Pokemon, and as a reward for listening to him, he will give you a free Bike Voucher.

Getting a Bicycle

Return to Cerulean City and enter the Bike Shop in the southwestern corner of the city. Talk to the Bike Shop owner behind the counter, and he will exchange the Bike Voucher for a free Bicycle.

To ride your new bike, open the Bag, go to Key Items, and select the Bicycle. For easier access, you can also Register the Bicycle in your Bag so that you can instantly equip it by pressing Select.

The store price for the Bicycle (without the Bike Voucher) is 1,000,000 Poke Dollars. Since trainers can only have, at most, 999,999 Poke Dollars in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, it is impossible to buy the Bicycle for the asking price.
