Epic Games Store Officially Reveals 2 Free Games for February 26

By newsgame

The Epic Games Store has officially announced its February 26 freebies: My Night Job and Boxes: Lost Fragments. Worth $25 combined, neither title has previously been offered for free on the Epic Games Store.

Over the course of January 2026, Epic had two giveaways in which it offered two games at once, pairing Wildgate and Total War: Three Kingdoms on January 1 and then the two Styx games on January 15. This month, it already had three such promotions, with this newly announced one being set to mark its fourth.

Epic Games Store: A Comprehensive List Of Every Free Game It’s Had To Date

Here’s a list of all the games that have been made free on the Epic Games Store. You have until February 26 to get the current free game.

Boxes: Lost Fragments and My Night Job are Epic’s Next Freebies

My Night Job and Boxes: Lost Fragments have been formally revealed as the Epic Games Store’s free games for February 26. Both will be available to claim until March 5, at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET / 5 p.m. CET. My Night Job is a 2016 indie action game that throws players into a monster-infested mansion and tasks them with holding the building together long enough to rescue survivors. It’s framed as an ’80s horror pastiche with arcade sensibilities that emphasizes quick runs and escalating difficulty, while also keeping things varied with a sizable arsenal of over 60 weapons, not counting the ability to fight the undead with bare hands.

The other February 26 freebie, Boxes: Lost Fragments, is a single-player 3D puzzle adventure in the escape-the-room mold. It’s built around intricate, tactile-looking mechanical puzzle boxes that players open piece by piece. Originally released in February 2024, it has over 1,500 “Very Positive” user reviews on Steam and an 82 average rating on OpenCritic.

Epic Games Store Free Games Right Now

Next week’s giveaway aside, the following seven days have the Epic Games Store giving away Return to Ash, a short visual novel made by indie developer-publisher Serenity Forge. It was originally released on Steam in July 2025, amassing “Very Positive” user reviews since then. The game centers on the story of a young woman called Ashleigh who wakes up in the afterlife, or something closely resembling it. Her first reaction appears to be that of relief, implying she was sick for an exhausting amount of time. However, the game doesn’t make it explicitly clear what happened from the outset, with discovering Ashleigh’s backstory being framed as the main motivation for playing.

Return to Ash is a relatively short experience that takes under four hours to complete on average, based on crowdsourced player data from 2025. Its moment-to-moment gameplay mostly consists of reading dialogue and picking responses. Ashleigh also builds relationships with several other characters over the course of the game. Her choices determine the outcome of the game’s story, infusing the black-and-white visual novel with a degree of replay value.

Return to Ash is free to claim from February 19 to February 26. It is available alongside the Starter Edition of STALCRAFT: X, an MMOFPS with a free-to-play base game and a microtransaction-based business model. Developed and published by Russian studio EXBO, STALCRAFT: X has amassed over 15,000 “Mixed” reviews since its December 2022 launch on Steam. Similar to the STALKER series, it’s set in a fictionalized version of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone and offers a persistent MMO open world with RPG-like progression. It offers PvPvE gameplay that mixes combat and exploration: players team up and prepare in hubs, then venture out to complete missions, fight against AI-controlled threats, scavenge resources, and clash with other groups.

Typically priced at $24.99, the Starter Edition of STALCRAFT: X is also free on Steam for the duration of the ongoing Epic Games Store promo. The offers are separate because the game does not offer cross-progression; every platform has its own servers, fragmenting even the PC player base.
