5 Games You Should Play With Your Significant Other on Valentine’s Day
There are plenty of popular co-op titles for couples to enjoy during a romantic Valentine’s Day evening, but it may be worthwhile to consider some unorthodox choices as well – such as Fallout 76 or Until Dawn. While Split Fiction and It Takes Two deservedly make the list of games perfect to play on Valentine’s Day, they also dominate the conversation to the point that many couples overlook titles that can be just as memorable in very different ways. It’s no secret that Amazon’s Fallout show has brought newcomers to the franchise, and Bethesda’s Fallout 76 is no longer as messy as it used to be at launch. These two facts make Fallout 76 worth considering, even if the irradiated wastes of Appalachia don’t sound romantic on paper.
After making their way out of the vault in Fallout 76, players are free to explore Appalachia at their own leisure: building their CAMP, kicking off quests, or picking a random direction and discovering what lies beyond the horizon. It’s Bethesda’s bread-and-butter, except in co-op format, and couples who enjoyed the show may find similar enjoyment in tackling these challenges together. That being said, wandering a radioactive wasteland isn’t the only unconventional way to spend Valentine’s Day.
The 60 Best Local Co-Op & Split-Screen Games You Can Play on the PS5 (2025)
Although couch co-op isn’t as common as it once was, there are still plenty of great local co-op and split-screen games for the PlayStation 5.
Overlooked Games Perfect for Playing Together on Valentine’s Day
- Fallout 76
- Until Dawn (and The Dark Pictures)
- Blue Prince
- Hytale
- Haven
Horror games like Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures are perfect for couples who enjoy tension and atmosphere. Playful arguments when making major decisions in Until Dawn can greatly elevate the experience, especially if it’s a first playthrough. Not only is Until Dawn centered around couples whose relationships are tested when the narrative thrusts the characters into a stressful environment, but it can also be completed over the weekend. For couples who prefer to solve puzzles together, Dogubomb’s Blue Prince has them covered with its shifting corridors and a mystery that has more layers than the original premise implies. On the other hand, those who enjoy building together will be right at home in Hytale, Hypixel Studios’ sandbox survival game that recently launched its Early Access in January 2026. Lastly, for couples who still want something explicitly romantic without defaulting to the usual suspects, Haven offers a cozy experience of surviving on an alien world with your significant other while building up the main characters through tender, intimate moments.

Fallout 76
What makes Fallout 76 fitting for Valentine’s Day lies in its gameplay loop. As befits a Fallout setting, Appalachia is hostile, unpredictable, and occasionally absurd, yet that hostility funnels couples towards a shared objective. Whether it’s surviving a Scorchbeast attack, clearing out a Super Mutant camp, or simply scavenging for materials to improve their CAMP, players are encouraged to cooperate and collaborate, especially during the early levels of the game before one’s build in Fallout 76 starts to take shape. Building a home in the wasteland may not sound romantic, but delegating roles when building a CAMP together can feel strangely domestic.

Until Dawn (and The Dark Pictures)
Unlike Fallout 76, Until Dawn isn’t cooperative in the traditional sense. Only one person holds the controller at a time, but both players can (and will) become part of the decision-making process. Supermassive Games takes this concept even further with its Movie Night mode in The Dark Pictures Anthology, which allows players to assign themselves different characters across any of the four stories that have been released thus far.

Blue Prince
Released in April 2025, Blue Prince is a puzzle adventure game set within a constantly shifting manor. What makes Blue Prince worth a mention is its pace: it features no timer to force a quick decision, nor does it feature combat to test one’s reflexes. Blue Prince offers an experience to couples seeking a quiet Valentine’s Day evening of observation, investigation, and good old-fashioned problem-solving. It’s a single-player game, but it’s fun to take turns with your partner. Have one person actually play the run while the other takes notes, and swap roles each run through the mansion.

Hytale
Hytale is a survival sandbox often compared to Minecraft – and though the inspiration is apparent, Hytale differs in that it places a greater emphasis on adventure, questing, and guided progression through its biomes. Couples who have enjoyed games such as Terraria or Valheim should give Hytale a try, though it’s important to keep in mind that Hytale only recently entered Early Access.
Haven
Made by The Game Bakers and released in December 2020, Haven is a role-playing video game that places heavy emphasis on dialogue, exploration, and turn-based combat. While it may not necessarily offer the most complex gameplay, part of Haven‘s charm lies in its two protagonists, Kay and Yu, as they navigate the alien world of Source while trying to repair their ship. This often involves scavenging islets for resources, cooking food together, coordinating attacks, and picking dialogue options together.
Ultimately, couples who enjoy video games will never have a shortage of titles to pick from, as it’s less about choosing a game that revolves around romantic themes, and more about making the simple choice to sit down with one’s significant other, controllers side-by-side, and spend a few hours together.
