Dreams are one of Heartopia’s most rewarding progression systems, especially if you enjoy creative hobbies like puzzles, writing, or music. Once unlocked, Dreams give you long-term goals that encourage you to play daily. They also reward you with useful items and currencies in Heartopia.

Upgrading a Dream can feel confusing if you’re not sure what actually increases your progress. There’s a town guide quest that requires you to upgrade a Dream to Level 2. If you’re stuck, this guide walks you through upgrading a Dream in Heartopia.

How to Upgrade a Dream in Heartopia

If you’ve reached D.G. Member Level 16, you’ll already have the Dreams feature unlocked. After unlocking Dreams, you’ll find them in the Dreams tab, where you can choose between Puzzle, Writing, and later Music Dreams at D.G. Member Level 17.

To upgrade a Dream to Level 2 for the town guide quest, the Puzzle Dream is the best Dream to upgrade first. It doesn’t rely on other players as heavily as Writing or Music and can be completed entirely solo if needed.

Puzzle Dream progression is based on Dream Points, which increase as you complete different puzzles and related objectives.

To upgrade the Puzzle Dream, your points need to increase to 500, which takes time and repeated effort. The most important thing to understand is that you need to complete different puzzles, not the same one over and over.

Where to Get Puzzles

Puzzles are mainly purchased from Ka Ching. Her puzzle stock rotates daily, so make it a habit to check her shop every day in Heartopia. You can find different types of puzzles here:

Small, Medium, and Large puzzles can usually be bought with coins
Some Large and XL puzzles might require Wishing Stars.

If you’re avoiding spending stars, focus on coin-based puzzles first. These are enough to reach Level 2.

Completing and Placing Puzzles Correctly

Once you buy a puzzle:

Place it inside your home.
Complete the puzzle.
Store it back in your inventory or place it on your wall.

Completed puzzles must be finished to count. Placing unfinished puzzles will not increase Dream progress.

You can also help friends with their puzzles. This will contribute to your Dream progression.

After completing enough puzzles and reaching the required Dream points:

Open the Dreams menu to confirm your upgrade.
Visit Annie to complete any related Dream milestone or town guide quest.
Once done, your Dream will upgrade to Level 2. You’ll then unlock more rewards and progress paths in Heartopia.
