This is When to Expect the Starfield PS5 Release Date Announcement

By newsgame

The long-rumored PlayStation 5 version of Starfield is not expected to appear at the upcoming State of Play event on February 12, according to an insider. So while it doesn’t seem fans can expect a Starfield PS5 reveal this week, this insider also claims that gamers won’t have to wait long until Bethesda is ready to discuss the sci-fi RPG finally making its way to Sony’s console.

Starfield was the first Bethesda Game Studios title released following Microsoft’s purchase of Bethesda. As a result, it launched on Xbox Series X/S and PC in September 2023, and to this day, it has not been released on PlayStation 5. In recent years, Microsoft’s stance on exclusives has softened, with some of its biggest franchises such as Gears of War and Halo coming to PlayStation. Despite this, there has been no sign of Starfield coming to PS5. Up until this point, it has all been rumors. And while Starfield had a considerably more mixed reception than many other Bethesda titles, it would still surely drum up a ton of excitement if it were to arrive on PlayStation.

Starfield on PS5 Isn’t Expected to Appear at State of Play

According to insider shinobi602 on ResetEra, gamers shouldn’t expect Starfield on PS5 to appear at the upcoming February 12 State of Play. Responding to questions about a potential PlayStation port and news on the game’s second expansion, shinobi602 said, “Since this keeps coming up, that’s all next month.” This indicates that gamers should hear about Starfield on PlayStation 5 in March, though they didn’t narrow the reveal window any further. It’s also exciting to hear that there could be more news about Starfield‘s second expansion on the horizon – it was initially announced back in August 2025, but has gone quiet since.

This March reveal window from shinobi602 lines up with a recent rumor suggesting that Starfield could be coming to PlayStation 5 in April. Though this would be a very quick turnaround from announcement to release, it would be more in line with Bethesda’s strategy in recent years, with Oblivion Remastered‘s shadow drop remaining just as shocking almost a year later. It’s also worth noting that Bethesda announced a few games for the Switch 2 recently, including Fallout 4 and Oblivion Remastered. Fallout 4 is coming to the platform on February 24, another example of how Bethesda is choosing to announce these ports much closer to their release dates nowadays.

As for games that could appear at State of Play, gamers are expecting another look at Saros and Marvel’s Wolverine, with rumors of Devil May Cry 6 and Resident Evil Requiem. Fans will need to tune in on February 12 to know for sure, as nothing has been announced for certain yet.

Rumor: Next Starfield Expansion Not Coming in 2025 Delayed

Although Starfield is over two years old at this point, there is still plenty for fans to look forward to. The next expansion will hopefully continue the game’s path to redemption, following its mixed reception from the community over the last couple of years. There are also heavy rumors of a Starfield 2.0 update, which is allegedly a significant update compared by some to Cyberpunk 2077‘s 2.0 patch. Although Starfield wasn’t everyone’s favorite, it’s good to see that Bethesda hasn’t given up on the game, as it would have been easy to completely move on after its initial launch. Beyond Starfield, the studio also remains busy with the ongoing development of The Elder Scrolls 6, which was announced in 2018.
