ARC Raiders Players Are Abusing a New Duplication Glitch

By newsgame

UPDATE:

At 5:32 AM PT on February 10, Embark Studios rolled out a new server-side hotfix to address the duplication issue. The original story follows.

A new duplication glitch is spreading like wildfire in ARC Raiders, and players aren’t happy about it. The new method might be the easiest to date, and the ARC Raiders community says it will kill the game if Embark Studios doesn’t address it promptly. Raids are borderline unplayable at the time of writing, as players are using the glitch to duplicate items such as Trigger Nades in order to repeatedly throw them at enemies, making PvP encounters massively unfair for those on the receiving end.

This isn’t the first time that a duplication exploit has taken over ARC Raiders. Although Embark had claimed to have fixed the issue in a new patch last month, it only took a matter of days before players discovered a new way to duplicate items such as weapon blueprints and valuable trinkets, like the new Familiar Duck, which can be held in stacks of 15 and sold for $7,000 each. However, this method required players to use a mobile hotspot and disconnect and reconnect at the correct time, which not everyone was willing to do. Unfortunately, there now appears to be a much easier method making the rounds, and the community is furious.

Yes, ARC Raiders’ Biggest Competition Really Is a 12-Year-Old Game

ARC Raiders is one of the best new games around at the moment, but this 12-year-old hit shows what real longevity looks like.

ARC Raiders Players Furious With New Duplication Exploit

The ARC Raiders community is currently in disarray, as a new duplication glitch is making raids borderline unplayable. As highlighted by numerous Reddit users, the exploit is allowing players to duplicate items such as Trigger Nades and spam them repeatedly. This is making games on Stella Montis, which is a small-scale, PvP-heavy map, a living nightmare. For obvious reasons, we won’t be sharing the method on how you duplicate items, but it is undoubtedly the easiest one yet, which means everyone is doing it. Users believe it is going to “kill the game” unless addressed by Embark promptly, with some players even calling on the studio to ban anyone caught doing the exploit.

While a new ARC Raiders update went live this morning, it did not address the exploit like many were hoping for. There were numerous bug fixes included in patch 1.15.0, as well as a nerf to the Trailblazer Grenade, but the duplication glitch is still possible at the time of writing. The good news, however, is that Embark appears to be aware of the issue. In response to the outrage on the ARC Raiders Discord, a community manager said the studio is “aware of the duplication issue and we are actively working on a fix.” Unfortunately, no timeline has been shared for when a hotfix will be deployed, but fans hope to see it as soon as possible.

In terms of post-launch support, Embark Studios has been providing players with tons of new content to check out each month since the release of ARC Raiders. Sadly, the community is growing increasingly disappointed with the number of bugs and exploits that are making their way into the game nearly every week. While Embark has since addressed it, the studio took weeks to fix an exploit on Stella Montis that allowed players to go out of bounds and kill others without being seen. Each update that claimed to have patched the out-of-bounds exploit was quickly met with a new method, but now anyone who glitches their way out of the map can no longer damage other players.

Players are also calling for Embark to be stricter on cheaters in ARC Raiders, as the extraction shooter seems to be infested with them right now. The studio has since implemented a three-strike ban system: first-time offenders are banned from ARC Raiders for 30 days, followed by a 60-day ban for repeat offenders, and a permanent ban for those caught cheating three times. Embark also recently made adjustments to Steam Family Sharing. Anyone banned from the game for cheating will also have the same restrictions applied to all other accounts playing the game via Family Sharing.
