If you’re working on completing your Insect Collection Journal in Heartopia, the Pink Katydid is one bug you won’t want to miss. This guide breaks down exactly when, where, and how to catch this rare pink bug in Heartopia.
Daily Onsen Egg Locations in Heartopia
Here’s a step-by-step guide to locating and photographing all 16 eggs in Heartopia’s Onsen Egg Promise quest.
Where to Find the Pink Katydid in Heartopia
The Pink Katydid can only be caught during the Bait the Insects event in Heartopia. Outside of this event, it does not spawn, no matter how much you search. The event takes place on Onsen Mountain, which is the only area where you’ll find this insect.
You also need to be Level 3 in the Insect Catching Hobby for the Pink Katydid to spawn during the event. If you’re below this level, the insect will not appear, even if the event is active.
Once those requirements are met, the Pink Katydid has very flexible spawn conditions. It can appear all day and spawns during Sunny, Rainy, and Rainbow weather in Heartopia, making it one of the less picky rare insects in terms of timing.
The Pink Katydid often hangs out at the tops of tall grasses, blending in with the pink flowers scattered around the area. Because of its color, it’s surprisingly easy to miss if you’re not paying close attention. Take your time and scan the grass carefully as you move.
While the Pink Katydid can spawn across Onsen Mountain during the event, players have had the most success finding it at the very top of the mountain. Head uphill until you reach the tallest patches of grass near the summit.
How to Catch the Pink Katydid in Heartopia
The Pink Katydid is pretty fast and skittish. If you rush toward it, it will quickly run away and disappear into the grass. To avoid this, use a charged bubble instead of a quick cast.
Hold down the bubble input to enter stealth mode and slowly walk towards the pink bug. Doing so will charge your bubble, and you can capture the bug easily. As soon as you spot the Pink Katydid, line up your shot and release the charged bubble before it has a chance to escape.
You can also increase the range of the Insect Net by leveling up Insect Catching Hobby. This lets you catch bugs, like Pink Katydid, from a distance.
