How Many Chapters Are in Final Fantasy 7 Remake

By newsgame

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is the first of three parts that retell the story of the 1997 classic RPG, but in no way is it a third of the length of the original. Most players should expect to spend at least 30 hours in this rejuvenated Midgar, while completionists and hard mode players could spend twice that time with the game. Expect around five hours to finish the Episode INTERmission DLC as well.

FF7 Remake’s many chapters are of varying lengths, as several contain side quests, otherwise known as ‘Odd Jobs’. Some chapters are fully focused on the Main Scenario, but your mileage may vary on any chapter, depending on how many challenging boss fights appear in the level, for example. Regardless, here’s everything you need to know about how many chapters there are in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and their key details.

Updated by Harry Shepherd on February 5, 2026: This FF7 Remake chapter guide includes a new intro, updated information, and fresh images to celebrate the Xbox and Switch 2 releases of the game.

How Many Chapters are There in Final Fantasy 7 Remake?

There are 18 chapters in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, with 26 side quests or ‘Odd Jobs’ spread across four of those. That said, it’s worth pointing out that you will only see a maximum of 24 in one playthrough, as decisions you make in chapter 9 — such as whether to choose heads or tails with Chocobo Sam or drink the mystery drink — determine a couple of missions you’ll see over two others.

There are two more chapters in INTERmission, set in the Shinra Building and the Sector 7 Slums.
