How to Taunt in Half Sword & Make Foes Surrender
If possible, it’s always best to avoid killing opponents in the medieval combat game Half Sword, and instead, it’s better to force them to surrender. The reason for this is that if players themselves find themselves on death’s door, they will have to fight off zombies in the abyss, and if they fail, it’s game over, and lots of progress will be lost. The number of zombies they face is the exact number of souls they have slain, meaning kills make a game over more likely. Thankfully, on top of an existing way to make enemies surrender, a new taunt mechanic has been added to Half Sword.

How To Taunt In Half Sword
To use the new taunt mechanic in Half Sword, press G. This will make your character call his opponent a ragamuffin or something similar. If you’re wearing a helmet, this will be quieter.
By itself, this taunt won’t do much. However, if you’ve already damaged an opponent or forced them onto the ground and taunt them, there’s now a chance they will surrender. It’s unclear if being more heavily armored and of a higher status also helps to make them surrender to taunts. NPC enemies also seem to have varying personalities and aggression levels, so this likely factors into their chances of throwing in the towel.
How To Make Enemies Surrender In Half Sword
Other than taunting, there are other ways to make enemies surrender in Half Sword. Sometimes, simply doing enough damage will make some opponents surrender. However, doing too much damage or accidentally cutting through vitals can also result in death. For this reason, it’s often best to use blunt weapons instead of those that cut through flesh.
There are also modes like Circle and Knock Down, where you simply have to push your opponent out of the circle or get them on the floor to win.
Hold Your Weapon To Their Neck
A much more effective technique, however, is to knock an opponent to the ground and then hold your weapon to their throat. In most cases, they will surrender immediately, as they are in an extremely vulnerable situation.
To do this, move your mouse down slowly, and your weapon will also lower to the ground and their neck.

Pin Them Down & Use Grappling Techniques
Grappling techniques, using Q and E to grab, are easily among the hardest mechanics in Half Sword, but if players learn these, then they are also great ways to force a surrender.
Enemies will often give up if they are pinned to the ground, have their arm locked in a hold, or have their entire bodies suspended in the air.
Choke Opponents
It’s also possible to choke opponents by grabbing them by the throat with Q or E. After a while, they will give up or pass out.
