Destiny 2 Survey May Hint at Major New Content on the Way
With Destiny 2 continuing to struggle, Bungie could be looking towards its community to help revitalize and reinvigorate the game if a new survey is any indication. Despite an anticipated Star Wars-inspired expansion set for release in December, Destiny 2 continues to struggle with declining player numbers and lessened interest.
Despite the promise of a new era for Destiny 2 with the start of its Edge of Fate expansion, things have seemingly gotten dire for Bungie. Following the well-received Final Shape expansion, which effectively ended the 10-year Light and Darkness storyline, Destiny 2‘s player base has dwindled to alarming levels, with bugs and poorly received gameplay changes driving the community away. Bungie continues to provide updates to the game, fixing issues and walking back features that didn’t hit the mark, and now, a recent survey could hint at potential future additions.

Destiny 2 Survey Could Hint At Future Content
In what appears to be an attempt to take the temperature of the community, Bungie has sent out a survey to certain members of the community, offering 500 Silver, Destiny 2‘s premium currency, as a thank you for participating. While not confirming anything, the survey lays out a list of “potential features” that the individual is asked to rank from most interested to least. The list itself has a variety of features that range from smaller, quality of life changes, to larger changes that would highly impact things.
First up, the survey presents some gameplay-oriented changes by adding new abilities for Strand, Stasis, and Void subclasses, a simplified Portal scoring system, a tier upgrade system for gear, and a prestige system that lets players reset their power, likely in exchange for rewards. Considering that power has been a highly controversial topic since the launch of Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, giving players a way to opt-in instead of forcing everyone to reset with each expansion is at least an interesting idea.
Another part of the survey focused on playlists, activities, and potential new modes, including the return of Gambit as well as the highly requested Destiny 2 Sparrow Racing League. Players could also rank new difficulty tiers for Raids and Dungeons, PvP modes, rotating playlists for Raids or Portal activities, a competitive PvE event, or a specific Raid Night, which would designate one night of the week when players could earn extra rewards for playing a specific raid. Players could even also rank the possibility of old Destiny 2 campaigns returning to the Portal.
Another big focus of the survey was centered on potential features ranging from unvaulting legacy Destiny 2 campaigns like the Red War, a trophy room where players could display their achievements, NPC sidekicks to assist players, “replayable, story-rich side quests” from NPCs, as well as an upgrade to the current Clan features. There’s also the possibility of a refreshed onboarding experience, one element which most players agree isn’t great and a real barrier to getting new players interested in the game.
Again, none of these items in the survey are confirmed or even promised, but it is interesting to see how many of these community-requested features are now being at least considered. There may be a lot of uncertainty currently around the game, even after Bungie revealed a quasi-content roadmap for Destiny 2 Renegades. However, this survey certainly makes it seem like Bungie is trying to formulate a plan that fans would at least approve of. For now, players will have to wait and see what happens, if anything.
