Battlefield 6 Update Changes Popular Bugged Weapon Scope

By newsgame

Although not listed in the official change log, the latest Battlefield 6 update has seemingly made a big change to the SU-230 LPVO weapon scope, which appears to have divided the community. The scope was added alongside Battlefield 6‘s big Season 1 update last month, but its night vision-esque tint had many questioning whether it was bugged or intentional. While DICE never commented on the issue, the tint has now been removed, but not everybody is happy about it.

On November 18, DICE rolled out a big new update for Battlefield 6 as part of continued support for the game’s very first season. Known as California Resistance, the latest patch added tons of free content to both Battlefield 6 and its free-to-play Battle Royale counterpart, Battlefield REDSEC. Fans of the former have a new map known as Eastwood to jump into, as well as Sabotage, which is a new limited-time game mode. As for REDSEC players, DICE has added a new Gauntlet mission, a sandbox mode in Portal, and more.

Eastwood, the latest map to be added to Battlefield 6, seemingly has a reference to one of the most popular TV shows of all time, Breaking Bad.

Battlefield 6 Quietly Changes SU-230 LPVO Scope

As expected, the update also makes a long list of improvements and bug fixes to Battlefield 6. However, one change not mentioned in the patch notes is the adjustment to the SU-230 LPVO weapon scope. As noticed by a user on Reddit, the attachment no longer has a green, night-vision-esque tint, something players had long questioned whether was an intentional design choice or a bug. While DICE never commented on the matter, its adjustment appears to confirm that this was not the scope’s intended design.

This change appears to have drawn a mixed response from players, as some state that the original tint actually made it easier to see enemies. “It made seeing soldiers INSANELY easy,” one user said, while another had quite the opposite thought, saying, “Good, now it actually looks how it’s supposed to look.” For those who have yet to check out the scope, it was added to the game alongside Battlefield 6‘s Season 1 update and can be unlocked by dealing 3,000 damage beyond 75m and getting a total of 35 headshot kills.

FPS fans who remain on the fence about purchasing the latest entry in the series will be pleased to know that Battlefield 6 will be free-to-play for a limited time. From November 25 until December 1, fans will be able to check out a handful of Battlefield 6‘s maps and modes. During the free trial, 5 of the game’s modes and 3 maps will be available to everyone across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with no purchase required.
