Should You Choose Heads or Tails or No Deal in Final Fantasy 7 Remake

By newsgame

Throughout Final Fantasy 7 Remake, players will be forced to make a number of choices, including how long to set a bomb timer for and what dress Tifa should wear. In Chapter 9, titled The Town That Never Sleeps, fans will face yet another decision, as a coin toss initiated by Chocobo Sam will ask them to pick between heads, tails, and no deal. Indeed, this choice does have an impact on certain aspects of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and this guide will provide full details.

TLDR: This coin toss will not affect story progression in FF7 Remake, but it will determine which side quests you get, and the dress Cloud wears later in Chapter 9.

Should You Take Stairs or Elevator in Final Fantasy 7 Remake?

Final Fantasy 7 Remake players must decide between the stairs and the elevator in Chapter 16, and here are the full details on this choice.

The most immediate difference between selecting heads, tails, and no deal in Final Fantasy 7 Remake is the cutscene that comes thereafter, and here is how this breaks down:

  • Heads: If a player calls heads in FF7 Remake, Sam will call tails and win. He will then indicate that Aerith is not Don Corneo’s type, and that Tifa is the better candidate, before revealing that the toss was rigged and giving Cloud the coin.
  • Tails: If a player calls tails in FF7 Remake, Sam will call heads and win. He will again disparage Aerith and hand his coin over to Cloud.
  • No Deal: If a player chooses no deal in FF7 Remake, Aerith will call heads, and Sam will win. The resulting dialogue will play out very much as it does in the other two options.

Considering that heads, tails, and no deal in Final Fantasy 7 Remake all produce very similar cutscenes, fans may think that this choice does not matter much, but that is not exactly the case. The major impact of this decision comes further into Chapter 9, as it ultimately determines which side quests players get access to, and this has an effect on a certain cosmetic that will appear later in the game. This is all detailed in the following paragraph, and players who wish to avoid spoilers should stop reading now.

Specifically, selecting either heads or tails in Final Fantasy 7 Remake will push players closer to the Chocobo Sam side quest route. This must be done in order to get Cloud a blue and black dress for the well-known cross-dressing scene. On the other hand, selecting no deal will allow players to get closer to the Madam M route instead, and this can lead to Cloud having a lavender dress with white trim. As such, players who have a particular dress preference should be sure to call heads, tails, or no deal accordingly.
