Capcom Is Confident Resident Evil Requiem Will Avoid Monster Hunter Wilds’ PC Issues
Capcom says Resident Evil Requiem will fare better on PC than Monster Hunter Wilds has. Leaks and theories about the newest RE installment have pushed hype to tremendous heights, but the state of another major release in one of Capcom’s key franchises may have some fans worried. When Resident Evil Requiem launches in February 2026, its developer is confident it will run smoothly on PC.
Since beginning development sometime in 2019, Resident Evil Requiem has dramatically changed course, going through several experimental iterations from an open-world game to an online co-op shooter. Despite those changes, Requiem ultimately arced back to more of a classic Resident Evil experience, and it’s already made a big enough impression to earn over one million wishlists. Now, as all eyes turn toward its fast-approaching release, the team wants to assure all those fans that they won’t be disappointed.
Resident Evil Requiem May No Longer Be a Multiplayer Game, But Those Bones Don’t Need to Be Buried
Resident Evil Requiem has changed course from its early iterations, but one early concept should not be too far from Capcom’s mind.
In a Q&A over its latest financial results, Capcom said it does “not anticipate similar risks” when asked if Resident Evil Requiem may face some of the same technical issues as Monster Hunter Wilds. It’s understandable why reporters and some fans may be concerned about that possibility. Less than half a year after release, Monster Hunter Wilds lost 98% of its Steam player base and fell to “Overwhelmingly Negative” reviews on the platform as users grew frustrated with persistent bugs and performance issues, even on PCs that exceeded the recommended specs. While Capcom is still working on getting that title to a better state, it says its next big game will likely avoid that fate.
Capcom explained the reasoning for its confidence by citing how Requiem and Monster Hunter Wilds use different gameplay systems, architecture, and network features, so those differences are enough that the games are unlikely to share the same technical issues. The note about “network features” could refer to problems stemming from Monster Hunter‘s online multiplayer functions, and while Resident Evil Requiem will retain some features from its multiplayer prototype, it’s still a single-player experience, so possible glitches in communication features are probably less of a threat.
Whatever the specifics, Capcom says it’s developing Requiem to run smoothly “across a wide range of PC specifications.” It’s also rumored that Resident Evil Requiem could get a PS4 port, so if the game can run on last-gen hardware, it would make sense that modern PC specs should be able to handle it without issue. Still, only time will tell how the game’s PC and console performance will fare.
