Completing the ‘Collapsed Passageway’ Discovery in Final Fantasy 7 Remake gives you the chance to get one of the best Materia relatively early in the game. You’ll see the inviting blue orb denoting support Materia at the opposite end of a bridge between platforms during chapter 6, ‘Light the Way,’ but it, sadly, isn’t as simple as striding across the passageway to pick it up. FF7 Remake ‘Collapsed Passageway’ Discovery: How to Get the Elemental Materia in Chapter 6
In chapter 6, you’ll be diverting power from three large Sun Lamps to move connecting bridges and open doors to get to Section H, then Reactor 5. The area is made up of three vertical levels — Upper Level, Mid-Level, and Lower Level — and horizontally arranged by pillars with the pillar number and the Section letter (e.g., G-05).
You’ll see the FF7 Materia at the end of a bridge that’s missing some flooring — it’s between pillars G-05 and H-07, Lower Level. When you attempt to cross the bridge, it collapses, forcing you to take the long way round. The Discovery, ‘Collapsed Passageway’, now appears on your map.
The best time to claim the Materia is between deactivating Sun Lamps two and three. On the way to Sun Lamp three, on pillar H-06, Mid-Level, there’s a ladder that takes you to Lower Level. Once you’re down, you’ll need to fight two Queen Grashstrikes. They’re vulnerable to ice attacks, so use ice-based spells to supercharge their Stagger meters. Once they’re down, move the bridge part in the corner to connect pillars H-06 to H-07.
When you’re moving the bridge, move it as far down as you can and pick up an MP Up Materia from the top of it.
If you head round to the far side of H-07, Lower Level, you’ll see you’re on the other side of the broken passageway. When you pick up your treasure, you’ll discover that it’s the Elemental Materia, which is one of the best in the game, but also one of the slowest to level with AP.
Slot it into weapons or armor with two connected slots, along with magic or summon Materia to imbue the weapon with attacks belonging to that element or summon, or enjoy enhanced protection from that element if slotted into armor.
