Hytale Players Recreate Black Ops 2 Hijacked Map

By newsgame

A brand-new Hytale server mod has transformed the game into a Call of Duty-style FPS, complete with two awesome map remakes from Black Ops 2. The mod keeps Hytale‘s blocky art style intact, but combines it with the hectic shooter mechanics of the Call of Duty series to create a unique experience.

It’s still very early days, but some of the Hytale mods released so far have been pretty incredible. The game claimed to have the mantra of “by modders, for modders” before launch, and so far, it has more than lived up to that. There are even Hytale modders bringing popular mods from other titles into the game. Considering that Hytale was released just over two weeks ago, the ambition on display with some of these mods has been wild. As modders become more familiar with the game under the hood in the coming months, hopefully this level of ambition continues. The potential is pretty much limitless, as has already been shown with some of the existing Hytale mods.

Hytale Already Has Me Missing Minecraft’s Most Iconic Block

Transitioning from Minecraft to Hytale has been fairly smooth as a longtime fan, but there is one block absent from Hytale that I already miss.

This is What Call of Duty Looks Like in Hytale

A post by content creator Dave Kratzy (Krtzyy) on X has highlighted a new Hytale server mod, which completely transforms the game into a Call of Duty-style shooter. It has guns, grenades a working kill feed, and even stats that keep track of players’ kill/death ratios as they play. It seems to be a Deathmatch-only experience right now, making for a hectic experience. However, it looks like a total blast. The resemblance to Call of Duty is no accident – the map itself is based on Hijacked, one of the most iconic maps from Black Ops 2 that has since returned in both Cold War and Black Ops 7. It still uses the instantly-recognizable blocky Hytale style, but the map is very obviously based on Hijacked. The server IP for this unique mod is “Everlands.net” and it also features another classic Black Ops 2 map, Raid.

Krtzyy’s video caught the attention of Hypixel founder Simon Collins-Laflamme, who pointed out, “And we haven’t given all the tools/features modders need to keep going. crazy.” He’s clearly impressed by what he has seen so far, and he’s right. Within a few days, Hytale players were trying to make the game look like Minecraft, but that was always the low-hanging fruit, given that they’re both voxel games. What will be interesting from this point is how modders use Hytale to pay tribute to their other favorite franchises, as the creator of this mod has done with Call of Duty. The idea that they don’t even have all the tools to work with yet is even more exciting, suggesting that, when those tools are available, these kinds of mods will only get bigger and better.

While Hytale modders are busy constantly improving the game in their own way, Hypixel itself remains committed to the game’s development after its huge early success. On the first day of its early access release, Hypixel confirmed that Hytale had already sold enough copies to fund its development for the next two years, and the game has continued to gather momentum since then. The developer has also released multiple updates for the game already, with plenty more rapid improvements on the way. Hypixel isn’t resting on its laurels, meaning Hytale fans are in for an exciting few years.
