Some PS5 Users Are Getting Targeted Discounts for Ghost Of Yotei
PlayStation users should check their email inboxes for a new Ghost of Yotei deal that Sony started selectively sending out on January 27. While the promotional offer consists of a minor discount, the PS5 exclusive is unlikely to drop any lower in the immediate future.
Ghost of Yotei released to stellar reviews on October 2, 2025. As a big-budget first-party PlayStation title less than four months old, its digital version has yet to receive any globally available discounts on the PS Store. Be that as it may, Sony is now offering targeted deals to select users.
Rumor: PlayStation State of Play Coming in February
A new rumor points to Sony hosting a new State of Play livestream event for PlayStation in February, likely revealing new details about 2026 titles.
Ghost of Yotei Gets 10% Discount, But Not For Everyone
The ongoing wave of deals centers on a 10% discount on Ghost of Yotei, sent directly to PlayStation users via email, as first reported by deal hunter Wario64 on Twitter. The offer brings the game’s price down to $62.99 for the Standard Edition and $71.99 for its Deluxe counterpart. While the full scope of the promotion remains unclear, social media reports suggest the deal has so far been encountered in the United States, Australia, and some EU countries. The first wave of offers went live no later than January 25, according to online chatter.
Predicting New Ghost of Yotei Deal Eligibility Is a Difficult Task
Targeted deals of this sort are essentially segmented marketing campaigns: Sony selects a subset of accounts and sends them promotional offers for games, DLC, or subscriptions at reduced prices. Not everyone in the same country or region will necessarily receive the offer, and even those who do may not get it at the same time. This may be due to a staged rollout or because Sony expands the offer only if earlier waves fail to meet conversion targets. In other words, there is no reliable way to predict whether any given user is eligible for the current Ghost of Yotei promotion.
What can be said with reasonable certainty is that, given Ghost of Yotei‘s status as a PS5 exclusive—and the fact that Sony can identify which PlayStation Network accounts are linked to which consoles—PS4 users who haven’t yet upgraded to the new generation are unlikely to receive the offer. Similarly, users who already own Ghost of Yotei are not eligible, as the PlayStation Store does not support transferring discount vouchers to other accounts, so there is no reason for them to be able to receive the offer.
PlayStation’s Targeted Ghost of Yotei Discounts Are Valid Until February 6
Most targeted PlayStation email deal campaigns have historically lasted between one and two weeks. A reliable indicator of a campaign’s duration is the outreach email containing the voucher, as its expiration date often matches the end date of the campaign itself. In this case, the current wave of Ghost of Yotei discounts expires on February 6. The email itself does not contain a voucher but takes the recipient directly to the PlayStation Store page with an amended, reduced price. This is in line with how Sony’s targeted marketing campaigns have worked in the past.
While the physical edition of Ghost of Yotei was discounted at select retailers for Black Friday, with discounts reaching up to 40%, the digital version’s price has so far held steady. Given that, and considering the current wave of targeted offers, a discount greater than 10% on the digital edition appears unlikely in the next several weeks. The next realistic opportunity for a broader price cut may come in late March 2026, when Sony is expected to launch its annual spring sale.
