Jessica hails from Northern Ireland, and has written thousands of guides across sites such as Eurogamer, PCGamer, IGN, and PCGamesN. She also ventures into the lands of reviews, news, interviews, and features from time to time, but never strays too far from the guides shire. When Jessica’s not writing about games, she’s usually stressing over character builds in Honkai: Star Rail and Genshin Impact, or on the hunt for a new survival horror to test the strength of her vocal chords. She asks that you kindly stop recommending gargantuan RPGs to her, as they will become her new personality, and there’s only so much unnecessary tatt that her shelves can hold. This logic somehow doesn’t stop her from trying every new gacha RPG going, but looking at her playtime on those tends to have the same effect… sometimes.

It may not seem like it at the beginning of the game, but Carbon is actually a very important material in Arknights: Endfield, as you need it to make more advanced materials down the Carbon production line, like Xiranite, which is in turn needed to craft Xiranite Components — an ingredient used to make gear in Arknights: Endfield.

Thankfully, getting Carbon and its later products is actually very easy once you’ve set up all the facilities required to farm Carbon, and automated the process of making Xiranite after you’ve popped a stack of Carbon into a Shredding Unit. It can be tricky to get your head around at the beginning though, so this page explains everything from how to Make Carbon in Arknights: Endfield, to how to farm Carbon, to how to make Stabilized Carbon.

You can make Carbon in Arknights: Endfield by placing Buckflower or Wood into the Refining Unit at your AIC Factory. While you may unlock more formulas for Carbon while progressing the story, and unlocking new regions, you can farm Buckflower in a loop very easily at your AIC Factory in Arknights: Endfield by connecting a Seed-Picking Unit with a Planting Unit. So, you only really need to collect one Buckflower to start the automated process.

How to Farm Carbon in Arknights Endfield

Here are step-by-step instructions explaining how to farm Carbon in Arknights Endfield:

  1. Complete the ‘Paving the Way’ main mission.
  2. Use the Expansion Core to unlock the second tier of the AIC Factory Plan.
  3. Unlock the Seed-Picking Unit and Planter on the AIC Factory Plan.
  4. Place the Seed-Picking Unit and Planter near each other in your Factory.
  5. Use belts to connect the Seed-Picking Unit to the Planter.
  6. Then use belts from the other side of the Planter to connect with the other side of the Seed-Picking Unit.
  7. Place Buckflower into the Seed-Picking Unit.

You’ve now created an infinite loop of extracting seeds from Buckflower and converting them back to double the Buckflower you initially used.

If you find the above method doesn’t work for some reason, make sure that your facilities have power, and that your belts have been connected the right way (an output socket of one facility into the input socket of another facility).

You need to put Dense Carbon Powder into the Refining Unit at your AIC Factory to make Stabilized Carbon in Arknights Endfield. This process can be a little lengthy if you don’t have an interconnected set of facilities set up, as you need to:

  1. Put Carbon into the Shredding Unit to make Carbon Powder
  2. Then put Carbon Powder into the Grinding Unit to make Dense Carbon Powder
  3. Finally, put Dense Carbon Powder into the Refining Unit to make Stabilized Carbon

You also need to advance the main story far enough to get another Basic Expansion Core and unlock the third tier of the AIC Plan in order to unlock the Grinding Unit.
