Indie platformer Cursedland is currently free to claim on Steam as a result of its first-ever 100% discount. Steam users have until early February 2026 to take advantage of the newly introduced deal.

The debut title from CSStudios, Cursedland is a single-player 2D action platformer originally launched on May 15, 2025. It debuted with a modest $1.99 price tag that was permanently halved in early December 2025.

Epic Games Store Reveals Its Final Free Game for January 2026

The Epic Games Store’s final free game for January 2026 is a wacky 2023 title with good user reviews and Breaking Bad inspirations.

Cursedland Goes Temporarily Free on Steam

Going one step further, CSStudios has now made Cursedland free to claim, but only temporarily, from January 26 through February 1, at 10am PT / 12pm CST / 1pm ET / 7pm CET. The newly launched promotion marks the fifth time the game has received a temporary discount, but also the first occasion on which that discount has reached 100%. Over on Steam, CSStudios described the promo offer as a belated holiday season freebie and expressed hope that new players would leave a review on Valve’s storefront after finishing the game.

Cursedland‘s Steam page describes it as a precision platformer built around tight movement and trial and error, asking players to time jumps between floating platforms, traps, and enemies. The game’s Microsoft Paint-style art style reflects its whimsical nature, with CSStudios describing the title as a meme project. True to that direction, Cursedland features a surreal world filled with references and humor, which plays a role in establishing the game’s absurdist tone. The platformer’s premise revolves around a casually dressed protagonist escaping the titular Cursedland, a kingdom corrupted by unseen forces. While he’s at it, he must protect a weird mask said to be able to resist the mysterious power permeating the doomed land.

Cursedland has 42 achievements, but doesn’t support Steam Trading Cards. The Unity-powered game doesn’t yet have enough reviews to have its user scores classified by Steam. That said, the few reviews it does have at the moment skew negative on account of the music, which some players have described as at least partially AI-generated.

Cursedland is the seventh limited-time freebie made available to Steam users in January 2026. Of those, the free offer of Steam platformer Kiki is still live, and can be claimed until January 31, at 12pm CST. Prior to Kiki and Cursedland, Steam users were able to claim Billie’s Wheelie, Initial Drift Online, Smart Factory Tycoon, Crown Champion: Legends of the Arena, and Battle Simulator: Counter Stickman, which were available at various times between January 3 and 22.

All Temporarily Free PC Games Right Now

Separately, there is an ongoing Microsoft Store promotion allowing PC gamers to claim a digital rendition of hangman called Hangman Earth. The word guessing game can also be grabbed free of charge on Xbox consoles until Tuesday, January 27. The final currently live PC freebie is Rustler, which has been available to grab via the Epic Games Store since January 23. Made by Poland-based Jutsu Games, Rustler is a top-down open-world action adventure built as a comedic riff on the early Grand Theft Auto games, but transplanted into a deliberately “historically inaccurate” medieval setting. It holds a 63 average score on OpenCritic and “Mostly Positive” user reviews on Steam, based on over 1,100 player impressions. Rustler can be added to one’s Epic Games Store account until January 29, when it will be replaced with a giveaway centered on wacky management sim Definitely Not Fried Chicken, which tasks players with building a drug empire with an inconspicuous front or three.
