Hytale Modders Are Adding Pokemon to the Game
Hytale players will soon have the chance to find Pokemon within the game, as modders PokeFind are working on bringing the classic Minecraft mod to the new survival crafting sandbox game. Although the Hytale version of the mod is still in development, PokeFind has an 8-year history of building Pokemon-themed mods for Minecraft, including a Pokemon Survival mode, Pokemon World complete with a unique storyline, Pokemon Skyblock, and PokeWars.
Although Hytale is still in early access, and thus, not content complete, fans have been given access to a plethora of modding tools which have allowed modders to create their own Hytale content in the meantime. Some of the best mods in Hytale so far are the ones that added a vast array of new items and skins for mobs, and this PokeFind mod will likely feature both. Installing mods in Hytale is fairly simple, just requiring players to utilize CurseForge as an external app.
Hytale May Never Get Minecraft’s Best Feature, But I’m Not Convinced It Needs It
Hytale’s future plans center around expanding its RPG systems instead of adding Minecraft’s deepest mechanic, and I’m totally fine with that.
Minecraft Modders PokeFind Are Bringing the Pokemon Mod to Hytale
In a post on X, PokeFind announced that it is officially working on bringing its Minecraft Pokemon mods to Hytale. The brief teaser shown includes the models for the Kanto starters Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, and their evolutions. It’s not clear how long it will take for PokeFind to finish its Pokemon mod for Hytale, but the modder is creating the models for the mod entirely from the ground up.
One of the hallmarks of PokeFind’s Minecraft servers is their ease of access, allowing both Java and Bedrock Minecraft users to access these Pokemon servers without needing to install any mods themselves. This system differs from other popular Pokemon Minecraft mods like Pixelmon and Cobblemon, which require players to download the mods and load them using client-side plugins. While PokeFind hasn’t confirmed how these mods will be accessed by Hytale players, it’s likely that PokeFind will use server-side plugins for its Hytale Pokemon mods.
Features Confirmed for PokeFind’s Hytale Pokemon Mod
- Survival Mode
- Pokemon MMO
- Shiny Pokemon
So far, PokeFind has remained tight-lipped about the features coming to its Hytale mod, but fans can expect many of the features from its Minecraft mods to be present in Hytale as well. Both the Pokemon Survival Mode and the Pokemon World MMO with its distinct storyline have been confirmed for Hytale. Additionally, Shiny Pokemon have been confirmed for this Hytale mod as well.
Since PokeFind’s initial announcement of the Hytale mod, the modder has posted how it has been refining its Pokemon models during the development process, taking into consideration feedback from fans. One post shows how the model for Abra has been updated even just within the short time since the announcement was made. The modder has also been testing the performance of potential ride Pokemon, like Charizard, giving players the ability to fly upon the back of certain critters.
Hytale already features a variety of different mobs for players to encounter, already rivaling Minecraft‘s menagerie of mobs. In addition to some more grounded creatures like Grizzly Bears, Foxes, and Squirrels, Hytale also features some more fantastical mobs, like Werewolfs, Yetis, and even the Cave Rex. These creatures already give Hytale players a lot of wildlife to encounter, but Pokemon‘s 1,025 critters joining Hytale via PokeFind’s mod would drastically boost the mobs players will be able to find when the mod eventually releases.
There is always a risk that this mod is taken down by DMCA from The Pokemon Company and Nintendo, as was the case with Pixelmon, but PokeFind’s Minecraft servers remain active to this day, so fans may not need to worry about the Hytale version.
