Xbox Launches Big New Sale to Celebrate Some of Its Best Games
Xbox has launched a comprehensive sale featuring dozens of price cuts on a variety of games, including some of the highest-rated titles from its portfolio. The promotion offers over $600 in maximum theoretical savings, arriving just ahead of the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct.
Since first introducing this show format in 2023, Microsoft has consistently timed new events with dedicated sales. Continuing that trend, a fresh wave of discounts has gone live on the company’s digital storefront just one day before the 2026 edition of the Xbox Developer Direct, scheduled for January 22.
Don’t Raise Your Expectations Too High for the Xbox Developer Direct’s “Secret” Fourth Game
As the January 22 Xbox Developer Direct approaches, the mystery surrounding a secret fourth game may be fueling unrealistic expectations.
Microsoft’s Latest Sale Slashes Prices of Many First-Party Xbox Games
The sale cuts prices across many high-profile Xbox first parties, including Forza Horizon 5 and Fable 3. Plenty of smaller-scale games from Microsoft’s ever-growing publishing portfolio are also part of the ongoing promotion, with the likes of Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey currently offered for under $10 each. Purely from the perspective of critical acclaim, the current crop of deals is headlined by Forza Horizon 5 and Psychonauts 2. The former boasts a 92 average score on OpenCritic, while the latter managed an 89. Apart from being the two highest-rated titles in the ongoing sale, they are also offering some of the largest savings, amounting to $75 combined.
Biggest Savings on the Xbox Store Right Now
The majority of the ongoing deals run until February 2.
Other highly rated titles that are currently available at a significant discount on the Xbox Store include Forza Motorsport, Keeper, and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. All of them hold an 84 rating on OpenCritic, while offering between $4.50 and $35 worth of savings. Most of the deals are slated to run for the next ten days, ending on February 2. There are some exceptions, but they are few and far between, like Fight Night: Champion being 80% off until January 26. Team Ninja’s critically acclaimed action game Ninja Gaiden 4 has dropped to its lowest-ever price thanks to the ongoing promotion and is currently offered for $48.99, or 30% off.
As for the chief reason for the newly launched sale, the 2026 Xbox Developer Direct is scheduled to kick off at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 7pm CET tomorrow, January 22. Microsoft has so far confirmed three titles to be featured at the event: Forza Horizon 6, Fable, and Game Freak’s Beast of Reincarnation. At least one additional game is expected to be revealed. Speaking to Variety last month, Head of Microsoft Studios Matt Booty said there are more Xbox games ready to launch in 2026 than can feasibly fit into a single Developer Direct. The remark indicates that another product showcase may not be far behind the January 21 event.
