The Sims 4 Remaster Details Leak Online
A remaster of The Sims 4 is in development, a known leaker has said, in addition to sharing some other alleged details about the rumored project. Several other sources have also hinted at the possibility of Maxis revisiting The Sims 4, though some of the recently surfaced claims about the remaster raise nearly as many questions as they answer.
An October 2025 The Sims survey referenced a hypothetical new game, describing it as either a “sequel or successor” and asking players whether they’d expect their Sims 4 save files to be at least partially compatible with it. Some fans interpreted this as a sign that Maxis may be considering modernizing the long-running title, which marked its 11th anniversary in September 2025.
New Sims 4 Feature Accidentally Leaked by Developer
A rare Maxis gaffe sees developer leak a potentially useful The Sims 4 feature ahead of its beta release, which is expected in the near future.
The Sims 4 Remaster Reportedly in the Works with More Content Than the Original
Known leaker lunar_britney has recently taken to Twitter to claim that a new version of The Sims 4 is indeed in the works, characterizing it as a “rewrite.” According to their information, the game will incorporate several expansion features, including seasons from the aptly titled The Sims 4: Seasons, as well as Milestones from the 2023 DLC Growing Together. The same source said the remaster will have “more of a focus on the simulation outside the household.”
Features Rumored for The Sims 4 Remaster Base Game
- Seasons
- Open neighborhoods
- Milestones from The Sims 4: Growing Together
- Graphical improvements, including better lighting
Separately, Twitter user GlitchGuard90 claimed the remaster would have “open neighborhoods,” a detail that appears to align with the larger-scale simulation focus rumor. While lunar_britney has accurately leaked The Sims 4 information in the past, GlitchGuard90 has no such track record. Project Rene, the next-gen Sims title currently in development, reportedly implements an open neighborhood as well. According to user reports from its latest playtest in November 2025, the game includes only a single loading screen (at startup). This approach resembles The Sims 3, whereas its sequel reintroduced loading screens between environments.
A new report from Sims Community indicates that the rumored remaster will feature a graphical rework, including improved lighting, adding that the game uses the same engine as Project Rene. While Maxis never officially confirmed the project’s engine of choice, some prior Project Rene leaks showed portions of the game in UE Viewer, indicating that it’s being developed in some version of Epic’s Unreal Engine. Conversely, the original Sims 4 uses a proprietary engine from Maxis.
Many Questions About The Sims 4 Remaster Remain
While the latest batch of rumors answers some questions about the potential remaster, it also introduces new ones. Chief among them is how a possible engine switch could affect existing The Sims 4 expansions—specifically, whether all non-base game content would be available at launch or reintroduced gradually in an approach resembling Blizzard’s handling of World of Warcraft Classic. The project’s target platforms remain unclear as well, though PC seems like a safe bet. Regarding the timing of the remaster, lunar_britney described its deadline as “insane in comparison to previous games,” albeit without offering further details.
