Steam Users Have Until January 22 to Claim 2 Free Games

By newsgame

Steam gamers can grab two free games completely free of charge until January 22. Both Crown Champion: Legends of the Arena and Battle Simulator: Counter Stickman are free to keep on Steam, but interested players will need to act fast to add them to their digital libraries.

Throughout the holiday season, Steam held plenty of giveaways for gamers to bulk up their libraries. Often, gamers will take advantage of these free promotions to add the games to their backlogs, even if they don’t immediately plan to play them. After all, it never hurts to grab them while they’re free. If nothing else, it becomes a good way to make progress towards Steam’s game collector badges. The giveaways have well and truly continued into 2026, with Steam frequently holding free-to-keep promotions on titles across various genres. Combine this with all the free Epic Games Store titles, and PC users have been treated to plenty of great games without needing to spend anything of late.

Steam Sales 2026

Valve Has Just Revealed All the Major Steam Sale Events for 2026, And You Should Mark Your Calendar Accordingly

Valve has revealed Steam’s full 2026 sale calendar, giving PC gamers a clear roadmap for when to wait, wishlist, and expand their backlog.

Current Free Steam Games

The first free game is Crown Champion: Legends of the Arena, a fantasy RPG and management simulator “set in the ruthless world of gladiatorial combat.” According to developer Pilgrim Adventures, the 2016 title sees players “oversee the training of your fighters and build your estate into an effective school of combat, all while trying to enhance your personal reputation and standing among the nobles of the realm.” Gamers build relationships with their fighters while progressing through the 12 arenas, fighting dozens of opponents along the way. Crown Champion: Legends of the Arena seems like an interesting blend of genres, all presented through a charming art style. Of the game’s 195 reviews, 84% are positive at the time of writing, giving it an overall score of “Very Positive.” At full price, Crown Champion: Legends of the Arena costs $4.99, so it’s a great find for free.

The second game is Battle Simulator: Counter Stickmen, a battle simulator where players serve as the commander of a small stickman fighting force. Reception to this game is a little more frosty with “Mixed” reviews from those so far at the time of writing, but the 2023 title seemingly only takes an hour to beat, so it could be worth gamers trying it out and forming their own opinions. After all, it’s free of charge. As with all free Steam games given away on the platform, while both feature trading cards, players are unable to get drops from either.

Gamers who want to grab both of these free Steam games need to act fast. Both promotions are only available until January 22, giving users just a few days to add them to their Steam libraries. There’s no pressure to immediately download either of these games – once they’re in the Steam library, they stay there for good. That way, they can come back to it later if their backlogs are already full of other games.

Elsewhere, PC gamers have a few games to claim at the moment. Those willing to head to the Epic Games Store can pick up both Styx games for free, two great stealth titles well worth playing. That promotion is also available until January 22. It’s great to see more proof that gamers don’t need to spend big on the latest titles to have fun on PC.
