PS Plus Subscribers Are Losing 9 Games in December
PlayStation Plus subscribers will lose access to 9 more games in December 2025, including some notable titles such as Grand Theft Auto 3 – The Definitive Edition, Sonic Frontiers, and Forspoken, among others. The next set of games to leave PlayStation Plus will only affect those subscribed to the service’s Extra or Premium tiers, as Essential users do not have access to the ever-changing game catalogue.
In 2022, PlayStation made some big changes to its popular subscription service, PS Plus, splitting it into three separate tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. While those subscribed to the latter two tiers receive access to a massive catalogue of video games, among many other benefits, PS Plus Essential subscribers receive free monthly games to keep (for as long as their subscription is active), online multiplayer, discounts, cloud storage, and more. Extra and Premium subscribers receive exactly the same benefits as Essential, with the addition of the game catalogue and more.
Games Leaving PS Plus in December 2025
- Forspoken (PS5)
- Battlefield 2042 (PS4, PS5)
- Grand Theft Auto 3 – The Definitive Edition (PS4, PS5)
- Sonic Frontiers (PS4, PS5)
- Surviving Mars (PS4)
- Star Trek: Bridge Crew (PS4, PSVR)
- Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge (PSVR2)
- Firefighting Simulator: The Squad (PS4, PS5)
- Arcade Paradise VR (PSVR2)
PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers will need to say goodbye to 9 more games in December, as the service will be removing Forspoken, Battlefield 2042, Grand Theft Auto 3 – The Definitive Edition, Sonic Frontiers, Surviving Mars, Star Trek: Bridge Crew, Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge, Firefighting Simulator: The Squad, and Arcade Paradise VR. Many of these titles can be played on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, while others are exclusive to PSVR and PSVR2. Many fans have pointed out that this is yet another month where PlayStation has removed VR games from the service without adding the same number back.
While game removals are always disappointing, the good news is that November 18 will be a huge day for PS Plus subscribers. Rockstar Games’ smash-hit Grand Theft Auto 5 is set to make its return to the service, alongside Pacific Drive, Still Wakes the Deep, MotoGP 25, and more. For Premium subscribers, who receive exclusive access to the classic game catalogue, Tomb Raider: Anniversary will also be made available. Those subscribed to PS Plus Essential will need to wait until December for their next batch of games to roll around.
Plenty of games may be leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium in December, but the service is also gearing up to add another huge title on December 2. As confirmed by Rockstar Games last week, Red Dead Redemption is coming to PS Plus Extra next month. If this wasn’t already exciting enough, it will be the newly announced upgraded version of Red Dead Redemption, which includes 60 FPS, improved graphics, HDR support, and 4K resolution on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
