How to Get More Villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Players will move into Tom Nook’s island alongside a Sisterly and a Jock villager. As they help set up the town, Tom will give players Getaway Package Plots for them to place down, which will allow them to invite more villagers to move. Essentially, players will be put in charge of recruiting new villagers for the island. There are three ways to get villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons:
Place a Plot and Wait a Day
When a home plot isn’t filled by the end of the day, a random villager will automatically claim it when the day resets. Therefore, one of the ways to get a new villager in New Horizons is to simply place a Getaway Package Plot and wait until the next day; the plot will have an owner, and the following morning, a villager will have moved in.
Find a Villager on a Nook Island
When players have an open plot on their island, they will come across villagers on Nook Islands. Players can fly to a Nook Island by purchasing a Nook Miles Ticket for 2,000 Nook Miles and handing it over to Orville at the airport.
Once at the island, players should look for a campfire, as villagers will hang by the fire. Gamers can approach the villager, speak to them, and they will see a dialogue choice giving them the option to invite them to move to their island. If they don’t want this villager to become a resident, then all they have to do is ignore them or pick the second option. Then, they can continue to explore Nook Islands and looking for their dream villager.
Invite a Campsite Visitor
After setting up the campsite on their island, visitor will sometimes come to visit. Players can talk to them, and if they are nice to them, they might even consider moving there. Players can do this by talking to the campsite visitor and showing interest on them sticking around after their camping trip.
Additionally, players can invite a villager to stay at the campsite through amiibo or amiibo cards. To do this, they must go into Resident Service, interact with the Nook Stop, and select Invite Camper. Players can have one guest at the campsite every day. The process towards getting an amiibo character to move is exactly the same as any other campsite visitor, but gamers must invite them back and talk to them for three days in a row in order to convince them to stay.
Alternatively, players can also visit a friend that has a villager in the process of moving out and invite them to move to their island. If they’ve had someone recently move out, the villager might just automatically join their island through the first method in this guide.
