A Switch 2 Launch Title Has Shadowdropped On Other Platforms

By newsgame

Square Enix surprised fans by shadow dropping Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster on PC and Xbox consoles nearly a year after it released as an exclusive launch title for the Switch 2. Although Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster is now available on more platforms than just Switch 2, one major platform surprisingly did not receive a port.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster is an enhanced version of 2012’s Bravely Default, which first launched on the Nintendo 3DS. Bravely Default is a turn-based RPG that took inspiration from other Square Enix series, including Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and SaGa. Bravely Default tells the story of four Warriors of Light named Tiz, Agnes, Ringabel, and Edea, as they explore the world of Luxendarc to reclaim the crystals that had been lost to darkness. Bravely Default received an HD remaster as a launch title for the Switch 2 in June 2025. Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster contained some graphical upgrades, an enhanced UI, and two new mini-games when compared to the 3DS version. Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster was exclusive to the Switch 2 for approximately nine months.

Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy, a new 3v3 action game with gacha elements, launches on iOS and Android later in March.

A New Dissidia Final Fantasy Game is Releasing Later This Month

The Dissidia Final Fantasy spin-off series is returning with a new game later this month, though the upcoming title is unlike its predecessors.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster Is Now on Steam and Xbox

Although the Switch 2 still has plenty of exclusive titles, more players can now dive into the Bravely Default series thanks to Square Enix’s latest shadow drop. As of this writing, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster is now available on Steam and the Microsoft Store for a discounted price of $31.99. The $8 discount from the usual $39.99 price tag will last until March 26. Square Enix revealed the news via a short trailer on social media, where it confirmed that all the features of Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster included in the Switch 2 version would appear in the new PC and Xbox ports. A digital art album is also available for anyone who buys the new ports of Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster.

This bonus perk grants players access to an electronic version of the Bravely Default Deluxe Edition art book previously sold in certain regions. Additionally, the PC version of Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster does not have demanding spec requirements. PC players only need an AMD Ryzen 3 2300 processor or newer, alongside 8 GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1630 graphics card to play Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster at 1080p and 60 frames per second (FPS). Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster is also Steam Deck Verified, giving Steam players an additional way to enjoy the game.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster Skips The PS5

Despite Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster appearing on Steam and Xbox Series X/S, a port was not released for the PS5. Given that Square Enix has used a multi-platform approach for all its major game releases, the exclusion of Sony’s current console is odd. The omission of a PS5 port was not lost on Bravely Default fans, as some took to social media to express their displeasure at being left out. Despite the excitement around the PC and Xbox launch of Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster, fans questioned how effective Square Enix’s multi-platform strategy is if the PS5 was left out. As of this writing, Square Enix has not announced any plans to bring the Bravely series to PlayStation consoles.

Airy in Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster (2025)

Although physical copies of Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster were launched as Game-Key Cards on Switch 2, that has not stopped the Bravely series from selling over four million copies across all platforms. Given that Square Enix has released ports at various intervals, it remains to be seen if the studio will give PlayStation fans a chance to play the Bravely series.
