Terraria Has Finally Confirmed the 1.4.5 Update Release Date

By newsgame

Terraria‘s long-awaited 1.4.5 update finally has an official release date of Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Terraria‘s 1.4.5 update was originally announced all the way back in November 2022 and initially had a release window of 2023. After over three years of waiting, fans have just another few weeks to go before they get their hands on Terraria 1.4.5.

Though fans have never had to wait this long for one before, the 1.4.5 update is just the latest in a very long line of Terraria updates. Following its release in 2011, Terraria continued to receive fairly regular content updates right up until May 2020 and the launch of the ‘Journey’s End’ update (1.4.0). As the title implies, Terraria‘s 1.4.0 update was intended to be its last, but just five months later developer Re-Logic delivered another major content drop titled ‘Rounding Out the Journey.’ Three more major updates came to Terraria between October 2020 and September 2022, with each one being semi-jokingly referred to as Terraria‘s “final update” by fans and some developers. The same has been said for Terraria‘s upcoming 1.4.5 update.

Terraria 1.4.5 Update Launches January 27, 2026

Terraria’s 1.4.5 Update May Be Closer Than You Think

Confirmed via a Steam News Hub post from Re-Logic, Terraria‘s 1.4.5 update is officially releasing on January 27, 2026. As long-time Terraria fans will know, this 1.4.5 update has been delayed multiple times since its announcement all the way back in November 2022, with the latest one coming towards the end of last year. In Terraria‘s October 2025 ‘State of the Game’ community post, developer Re-Logic confirmed that the 1.4.5 update could possibly launch between December 2025 and January 2026. In the following month’s State of the Game post it was confirmed that January would be the more likely release window.

In Terraria‘s December 2025 State of the Game post, Re-Logic shed some more light on this most recent 1.4.5 delay. Essentially, it all came down to getting submissions of the update approved by all the necessary parties. Though Re-Logic submitted the 1.4.5 builds for testing by December, it takes time for them to be reviewed by console first-parties and global partners, especially during the holiday season. Similarly, Re-Logic didn’t want to rush a late December release for Terraria 1.4.5 as the developer didn’t want to force its team to work during Christmas week and crunch in order to iron out any issues that potentially would have resulted following the launch of 1.4.5.

New Features Confirmed for Terraria’s 1.4.5 Update

That all said, Re-Logic did confirm that Terraria‘s 1.4.5 update was nearing a content-complete stage in September 2025, and based on the timings of submissions, all new features included in the update were likely locked in by the end of November 2025. And given that the update has been in development for over three years, fans are expecting quite a bit of new content come January 27. Here are just a few of the biggest features confirmed for Terraria‘s 1.4.5 update:

  • Palworld x Terraria crossover
  • Dead Cells x Terraria crossover
  • New weapons
  • New armor
  • New mounts
  • New paintings (made by members of the Terraria community)
  • New pets
  • New vanity accessories
  • Player-controlled RC car
  • New Entity variants
  • Seeds menu
  • New secret world seeds
  • New weather effects and mechanics
  • New shaders
  • Localization for Japanese, Chinese, and Korean
  • Updated sprites
  • Deeper character customization
  • UI refinements
  • Smart Cursor improvements
  • NPC behavior and housing improvements
  • Updated crafting features
  • Mobile touch control improvements
  • New animations

In just a few short months, Terraria will turn 15 years old, and the 1.4.5 update is shaping up to be an incredible celebration of the beloved sandbox crafting game. On top of that, Terraria also has an official board game set to release this year, along with presumably a wealth of celebratory anniversary merch.
