New Horizons Update Made Changes That Weren’t Announced in Advance

By newsgame

The big new 3.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons brought even more to the game than Nintendo initially let on, with some major helpful features added. The life simulation game from Nintendo easily stood as one of the biggest hits on the Switch, seeing a meteoric rise following its March 2020 launch. Animal Crossing: New Horizons currently ranks as the second best-selling Nintendo Switch game of all-time, only falling behind Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the platform. The game has also been the gift that keeps on giving for fans.

While Animal Crossing: New Horizons released nearly six years ago, the game has continued to receive new content. New Horizons debuted a major DLC expansion with the 2.0 update in late 2021, with Happy Home Paradise adding a new island where players could design vacation homes for different villagers. The launch of Nintendo’s newest home console similarly welcomed news of a big update to come, with the recent release of the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of New Horizons bringing even more new content to the game. Now, the recent upgrade also brought with it several changes that came as a surprise to fans.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 Update Has Even More Surprises

Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans have discovered a plethora of helpful changes in the 3.0 update beyond its billed features. New Horizons‘ big new patch added a helpful feature for players looking to position themselves perfectly for fine-tuned adjustments, with players able to hold the L button to perfectly hop to an adjacent tile. Animal Crossing‘s crafting system got a big upgrade that went under the radar in the 3.0 update, with players now able to use materials in their home storage when crafting items. The update even introduced some new items for players to buy through the Nook Terminal, with several items previously exclusive to Pocket Camp players now available.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons saw a multitude of smaller adjustments to the game as part of the update as well. Nook’s Cranny saw some changes to its operations, including players being able to sell seasonal items and buying up to 50 Customization Kits at once. Resident Services saw some helpful memory changes, with players given the option to revert both their island’s tune and flag to its original version. Players looking to clean up their island after a long absence are also being given a helping hand, with players now able to ask Leif to remove weeds from their island if there are 30 or more weeds.

Nintendo has yet to officially announce a successor to Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Switch 2, with the Switch 2 Edition of New Horizons likely meaning a new game is a ways off.
