2XKO Officially Reveals Season 1 Champion

By newsgame

Riot Games is kicking off Season 1 of 2XKO with Caitlyn Kiramman joining the playable roster, though many players likely have noticed the strange launch time which shows 2 dates. After a lengthy development cycle, which included the original reveal as Project L back in 2019, 2XKO finally launched in Early Access for PC players back in October 2025. The launch included 11 characters with more to be added through seasonal updates, including the latest member arriving very soon.

Based on Riot’s incredibly popular League of Legends franchise, 2XKO gives fans another avenue to enjoy the Runeterra universe even if the MOBA title isn’t for them. 2XKO is a tag fighter, pitting teams of two characters against one another. While it can be played in the traditional 2v2 way, 2XKO introduces its own modifiers called Fuses to further customize their duo and playstyle, such as Juggernaut, which empowers the point character while removing assist options entirely. While the 2XKO roster may not be as big as many other fighting games, the characters that are available are fairly unique and more familiar faces are being added every few months.

Riot Games’ new fighter pulls from the world of League of Legends, but it’s going to be a totally different gameplay experience.

2XKO Season 1 Launch Times

After launching exclusively on PC in 2025, Riot Games is gearing up to add console players into the mix. Alongside Season 1, 2XKO announced its console launch date for January 20-21, 2026, which may be a bit confusing for some players. Essentially, this comes down to a time zone related situation as the date and time of launch is set to January 20 at 5pm PT for the west coast of the United States. This means the Eastern Time Zone will see it available at 8PM ET and International locations like London, Paris, Tokyo, and others across the Atlantic Ocean, will actually already be a day later, on January 21.

The “Early Access” season of 2XKO gave players 2 new characters with Teemo and Warwick, while also applying a number of balancing tweaks to the existing roster. For Season 1, Riot confirms the arrival of Caitlyn Kiramman, the Sheriff of Piltover. Carrying her trademark hextech rifle, Caitlyn is more of a marksman type of character, so her gameplay appears to revolve around zoning tactics. Considering 2XKO is a 2v2 tag fighter, players will likely want to pair Caitlyn with someone who can cover ground like Vi.

While a known commodity from League of Legends, many will also probably recognize Caitlyn as one of the lead characters from Netflix’s hit animated series known as Arcane. Her appearance in the debut trailer leans heavily into her LoL look, though players can also unlock a second costume for Caitlyn, giving her a bodysuit, ponytail, and mask instead of her long hair and top hat. While the trailer didn’t reveal an outfit from Arcane, considering other fighters like Ekko, Vi, and Jynx do, it’s probably only a matter of time until Caitlyn also gets at least one of them.

As for how she plays, her hextech rifle likely means she’ll prefer to keep her distance from opponents. In addition to probably being a strong assist character, Caitlyn will use her rifle for long-range shooting, either on the ground or through the air. She also has some traps available to keep her opponents guessing, including a bola and bear trap. However, Caitlyn also has a bit of mobility through bridge kicks and evasive rolls.
