How to Increase Infection Resistance in StarRupture
When you first start out in StarRupture, the alien species known as Vermin don’t bother you too much. You might find them wandering around Arcadia-7 or guarding an old research outpost, but for the most part they keep themselves to themselves. As you begin to progress further and expand your base of operations, however, you’ll find that they become a much more hostile party. This leads to a much higher chance of you getting infected, which disables your shield and means you’ll take damage directly to your health. As such, you’ll want to increase infection resistance in StarRupture to improve your chances of survival when taking on large swarms of Vermin.

Increasing your base core capacity is key to building a truly impressive production facility in StarRupture, but just be warned of the risks.
How to Increase Infection Resistance in StarRupture
You can increase your infection resistance by creating an Infection Res Plasm, which doubles your resistance to infection for 10 minutes after being consumed.
The Infection Res Plasm crafting recipe first needs to be unlocked from the Recipe Station, but this can only be done after you’ve found Glowcaps.
Glowcaps can only be found in underground caves. These locations are inaccessible for most of a ‘cycle’ between ruptures, as the hole you drop through to get inside is covered by roots. This means you have to wait until a rupture has just finished and then head to an underground cave’s entrance when the ground is still ashy to get inside. In these caves, you can pick the large luminous green fungi to get Glowcaps.
You then need to insert 40 Glowcaps, 25 Prism Herbs, and 100 Data Points to unlock the Infection Res Plasm crafting recipe for your Food Station.
Once the recipe has been unlocked, you can craft the Infection Res Plasm with 3 Glowcaps and 2 Prism Herbs from the Food Station, which is unlocked upon reaching level 6 with Future Health Solutions. Prism Herbs can be found around bodies of water on the planet’s surface, and have a purplish-blue color.
If you’re planning to craft a lot of different resistance plasms for infection, corrosion, heat, and drain, make sure that whenever a rupture happens, you’re heading to the nearest underground cave (or caves) and stocking up on Glowcaps. They’re the primary ingredient in these crafting recipes, and this is the only place you’ll find them.
When you’ve crafted an Infection Res Plasm, simply select it from your inventory and choose to use it. For the next 10 minutes, your infection gauge will fill up more slowly when exposed. However, keep in mind that the plasm will also give you 40 Toxicity, which needs to be managed, as it can cause havoc with your hunger and thirst gauges. Purplants are great for reducing Toxicity, but consuming them (or food items that are made from them) will get rid of any positive buffs you have from consumables.
