Is Fallout 76 Worth Playing in 2026?

However, when you look past the bugs, a fun and expansive wasteland is waiting to be explored that’s worth the performance hiccups.

Fallout 76’s Strong 2025 Streak Hopefully Continues in 2026

Fallout 76 has featured plenty of updates that have expanded the game’s content, but 2025 was stacked. There is still plenty of room for improvement, but last year’s changes felt like a new chapter for Fallout 76 that was already a new book. Bethesda closed out the year with Fallout 76‘s Burning Springs update, but the three others upgraded the game in other major ways.

Fallout 76‘s updates last year covered a lot of bases. Whether it was the map, long-awaited mechanics, or new character options, players got plenty of fun ways to experience Fallout 76‘s Appalachian wasteland in a fresh light. 2025 set a higher standard when it comes to future Fallout 76 content. However, those who are fatigued by the performance of Bethesda’s games or are strictly wanting a completely solo experience (as some of the best content really needs players to work with others) may want to pass on it. Overall, Fallout 76 is still a solid choice for those who enjoy exploration and evolving content.

Taste is subjective, so everyone’s reasoning for playing or skipping out on Fallout 76 will be different. The Fallout franchise already has a few things on the horizon in 2026. The second season of the Amazon series is underway, and Fallout 76 will get more content. What that content will be, though, isn’t clear at the moment. Expanding on Burning Springs is likely, but beyond that, Fallout 76‘s 2026 roadmap is up in the air. There are also rumors of Fallout 3 and New Vegas remakes coming, though it’s uncertain if that will be in 2026.
