ARC Raiders Players Are Bypassing the Stash Limit, But There’s a Catch

By newsgame

Some ARC Raiders players appear to be completely disregarding the enforced Stash limit, which only allows players to store between 280 and 292 pieces of gear and items at a time, depending on whether or not a player has completed the first Expedition. While this number can be exceeded, it comes with some limitations that some ARC Raiders players seemingly don’t care about, as they appear to be storing hundreds and hundreds of additional items in their Stash.

Although ARC Raiders is not the first of its kind, with games like Escape From Tarkov and Hunt: Showdown paving the way for the extraction shooter genre, it has found monumental success since its launch in October. According to data from Alinea Analytics, ARC Raiders has sold 12 million copies and reached more than 3.2 million daily active users on January 4. While Battlefield 6, released just a few weeks before ARC Raiders, has lost 85% of its Steam player base, Embark’s second title has held extremely steady, maintaining 91% of active users on the platform and remaining one of Steam’s most-played games every single day.

ARC Raiders Kicks Off 2026 With a New Set of Trials Challenges

ARC Raiders developer Embark Studios kicks off 2026 with a brand-new set of Trials challenges for players to complete and earn fresh rewards.

ARC Raiders Players Are Ignoring the Stash Limit

While ARC Raiders takes a much more casual approach to the extraction shooter genre, it still requires players to manage inventory space and stock up on the essentials when heading into a raid. At the beginning of the game, players will start with just 64 slots in their Stash, but this can be expanded all the way up to 280. For those who recently took part in the first ARC Raiders Expedition, the maximum Stash size is now 292 due to the additional 12 slots granted by the reset. However, some players appear to be completely disregarding the imposed limit, as one Reddit user showed off their 821 items in their Stash, saying, “All it took was not caring about the stash limit to get to this point.”

Although this may seem amazing at first glance, it comes with numerous trade-offs. For starters, having a full Stash prevents players from using free loadouts, collecting materials from Scrappy, and purchasing anything from the game’s Traders. And that’s not all, either. When a Stash limit is exceeded, any additional items that make their way into a player’s Stash will be blocked out and unavailable to use until space becomes available. As for how players are achieving this, numerous users pointed out that it can be accomplished by using a high-tier Augment, such as the Looting Mk.3, as it provides the user with extra inventory slots. They then simply swap the Augment for something lower, like a free loadout Augment, and anything inside of the extra inventory slots is automatically placed in the player’s Stash, even if it’s full.

One user explained how they make use of this trick, saying, “I sit around 500. And you can actually cycle it. I moved my 200 explosive compounds down to the bottom to make more accessible items up top. It takes a few minutes to do. But [it’s] manageable.”

With so many valuable weapons and items in ARC Raiders, it’s no surprise that players are simply ignoring the Stash limit. Extraction shooters often bring out something known as “gear fear,” which results in players hoarding their most prestigious items out of fear that they will die and lose them to another player. Although the Stash size in ARC Raiders can be upgraded, even at 280 slots, many players are maxing out their Stash quickly, leading to fans calling for Embark to increase the overall size without the need to take part in the Expedition.

Embark hasn’t said if it plans to make such a change, but there are likely going to be tons of improvements and quality-of-life upgrades on the way now that the new year is in full swing. The first patch of 2026 is still in the works, but the studio has said it will be nerfing some popular ARC Raiders weapons and items, including the Stitcher, Kettle, and Trigger Nade. The latter of which has been causing absolute havoc over the last few weeks.
