Resident Evil Requiem Teases New Environment
As audiences continue counting down the days to the big launch of Resident Evil Requiem, a brand-new trailer promoting Nvidia graphics enhancements has given players an early look at a potential gameplay section in an unknown city that may match up with earlier rumors of the next Resi game having a more “open level” design. Resident Evil Requiem has already been confirmed to feature two protagonists, Grace Ashcroft and Leon Kennedy, and players know they will eventually make their way back to the notorious Raccoon City. However, many have been curious about just how much of the world of Resident Evil Requiem will be explorable, and fans are hoping snippets of the Nvidia trailer are teasing much larger environments than previously utilized in the franchise.
The setting of Resident Evil Requiem will not only return players to some of their favorite areas introduced in earlier games, but audiences will also get to discover the Wrenwood Hotel – the place where Grace’s mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, was murdered. It has not yet officially been confirmed where exactly the Wrenwood Hotel is located, so fans are speculating that it may be located in a new city. While earlier trailers have shown brief glimpses of Grace investigating crime scenes outside of Raccoon City, many now believe that a small scene in the latest Nvidia trailer potentially indicates that Grace’s detective work will in fact allow her to experience a much larger world design than older protagonists.

Resident Evil Requiem Nvidia Trailer Teases Potential Open Level Design
In the Resident Evil Requiem Nvidia trailer, Capcom showcases the 4K Path Tracing and DLSS 4 graphics capabilities of the game, with accelerated multi-frame generation offering an enhanced visual experience. Perhaps more importantly, though, the trailer includes a moment of Grace walking through a rainy city that has been previously showcased through cutscene snippets in other trailers. Alleged gameplay leaks of Resident Evil Requiem suggested that the game could feature “several large levels” for Leon and “an open-world design” for Grace, with the latter point possibly now supported by the inclusion of the city exploration gameplay with Grace in the Nvidia trailer. Capcom and Porsche have been heavily promoting the custom Cayenne Turbo GT driven by Leon in Resident Evil Requiem, and if the open level design rumors hold true, fans might be able to enjoy the car as more than cinematic eye candy.
At the time of writing, the potential for open-world gameplay with Grace and large levels with Leon remains speculative, so fans should keep their expectations in check. That said, multiple trailers have shown sprawling environments in Resident Evil Requiem, so it would not be surprising if Capcom has taken a more modern direction in the overall design of the game. Many fans have enjoyed the close-quarters layout of the Spencer Mansion and Baker Estate, though others have been keeping their fingers crossed that Resident Evil Village was the start of larger settings being introduced into the survival horror franchise. If rumors and trailers are any true indication, fans may finally be seeing even more of the world of Resident Evil in Requiem.
Hype for the next Resi game is certainly riding high, with many excited to see the return of franchise-favorite Leon Kennedy, Raccoon City, and even the Umbrella Corporation in Resident Evil Requiem. Despite some mixed reactions to the split gameplay that will see horror-focused sections with Grace interspersed with high-octane action levels with Leon, both longtime fans and first-time players are expecting another juggernaut entry in the Resident Evil series. Resident Evil Requiem launches for Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on February 27.
