Leaks Show First Look at The Sims 4 Remastered
An image of what could be The Sims 4‘s remaster has appeared on social media, and mixed feelings have erupted in the community. The Sims 4 was released in September 2014 and over the past decade, an array of DLCs packs have been released to keep it fresh and ensure that players never ran out of new things to do. In fact, it has been calculated that if fans were to have purchased every pack at full price, they would need to have spent over $1,500 to have their hands on every expansion pack, game pack, stuff pack, and kit available.
Not long ago, rumors started going around the community that the release of the final Sims 4 expansion pack was imminent. Players speculated that it was going to be similar to The Sims Medieval and have a royalty theme. However, since Project Renee was scrapped, players were also unsure what this meant for the future of Sims games development. At the end of 2025, talks of an alleged Sims 4 remaster became more frequent as information about “Project X” surfaced.
Sims 4 Fans Point Out Features The Game Still Needs After 11 Years
Fans of The Sims 4 like the game, but many are sharing their thoughts on what’s still missing from the game after all these years.
Sims Community, a known Sims 4 news source, has received an email with an attachment showing what appears to be a promotional image for Project X. The image shows four Sims characters with a similar aesthetic to those in The Sims 4, but the detail has been taken up a notch, giving it a more polished look, which would make perfect sense if Project X is a remaster as many believe it to be. Below the characters, there is the iconic Sims plumbob and the slogan “Create beyond limits.” According to Sims Community, the attachment was titled “TSX_MATERIAL_SIMS_EXPLORATORY,” which could mean that it is part of a potential demo for players to try out.
Most fans are still unsure how they feel about the launch of a remastered version of The Sims 4, but overall morale seems to have gone up with the release of this image. Many fans in the comments section of Sims Community’s tweet announcing their latest blog post seemed pleased by what they saw. They pointed out how fond they were of The Sims 4‘s style and that they were happy to see that the team wasn’t aiming to go in a different direction. However, there were still some negative comments, as players believe it is much too similar to The Sims 4. Most players don’t want to pay for a game that they already own. Plus, many believe that it hasn’t aged enough to warrant a remaster. The Sims 4 is still receiving updates and new content, and it hasn’t been long since the last DLCs came out, so players are still exploring some of its most recent features.
When Are More Sims 4 News Expected to Come Out?
- According to EA, January 2026
Thoughts of a potential remaster prompt one to ask how many packs would be included in the base game and what would be the base price of the remaster. It would be strange to go back to square one and play without expansion packs, but since there are over $1,000 in EPs, would some be included, or would players be expected to pay for them all over again? The Sims 2 Legacy Collection included most expansion packs, but they were already unobtainable, and it had been nearly 20 years since The Sims 2 received its final DLC pack. EA would have to give this matter a lot of thought for it to work. Fans who have already spent hundreds of dollars on the game will most likely not be inclined to spend money on the same content.
