How to Apply for the Main Job in My Winter Car
My Winter Car is a slow, unforgiving life simulator set in Finland. It drops you into the world with an unfinished car, limited money, and almost no direction on how to survive. While small side jobs and odd tasks can help you scrape by early on, they are not enough to sustain long-term progress. This is why you need to get a main job. It’s not clear how jobs work in My Winter Car and what you need to do to start earning a steady income. This guide explains how you can get a job in this game.
How the Problem Bar Works in My Winter Car
The Problem Bar is a tricky new mechanic in My Winter Car. Here’s how it works and how you can fix it.
How Jobs Work in My Winter Car
You do not start working automatically in My Winter Car. Until you physically go to the correct place and apply in person, the main job does not exist for your character. There are all sorts of jobs in My Winter Car, like taxi drivers and advert delivery jobs. You’ll have to find the workplace, walk inside, and go through the full hiring process manually.
Main Job Location in My Winter Car
The main job takes place at the old factory on the southeast side of the map. It is a large industrial building located near a bridge, right next to the main asphalt road that connects to the highway. If you are driving along the main road toward the southeast and paying attention, the factory is hard to miss. There is no map marker until after you are hired, so finding it is part of the process.
How to Apply for a Main Job in My Winter Car
To apply, you must go inside the factory building during the day, go to the boss’s office and start a conversation. Once the boss starts talking, stay close to him at all times. He will receive a phone call and begin walking around the production floor while continuing the conversation. Do not walk away, do not leave the building, and do not stop interacting. You must press K to keep the dialogue active whenever it stalls. If he goes silent, press K again.
The phone call can take several minutes, and leaving early will completely break the hiring process. If you wait patiently and follow him, he will eventually show you the job and present the contract for you to sign.
When the Job Actually Starts
After you are hired, you do not begin work immediately. If the boss tells you to start on Monday, that means the next Monday, not the current one. You can apply for the job at any point during the first week, as long as it is before Monday, and it will still start the following week.
The factory opens at 7 a.m., and it is safest to arrive early. Waking up around 6 a.m. gives you enough time to get there without issues. If the door is locked, you are either too early or your start date has not arrived yet.
