Bungie’s Marathon is shaping up to be a solid entry to the extraction shooter genre, taking players into a dystopian sci-fi world where they drop into an alien planet, loot and battle hostiles and players, all while completing contracts to level up their gear and then extract to secure their loot for another run. However, those who are focusing on unlocking the game’s free weapon cosmetics may be a little stumped by a certain type of challenge. Here is how to get precision eliminations in Marathon.
How to Get Finishers in Marathon
Those grinding through Marathon’s Assignments and Contracts may find themselves needing to defeat downed players with your finisher. Here is how.
How to Get Precision Eliminations in Marathon
To get a precision elimination in Marathon, players will need to eliminate their enemies using headshots. This goes for both Runners and hostiles, so line up your sights onto an enemy’s head when their health is low and land the shot to get a precision elimination.
Since headshot kills on hostiles and enemy Runners will count, players who need to get precision eliminations with certain weapons for challenges have the freedom to focus purely on PvP and PvE kills. However, whether a precision elimination counts towards every challenge that requires one depends on the wording of the challenge itself.
Some challenges in Marathon may specify that players need precision eliminations on Runners, and if that is the case, you will need to eliminate a player with a headshot for them to count. Precision damage, on the other hand, simply requires players to land damage to the head on either Runners or hostiles.
Tips for Getting Precision Eliminations in Marathon
Getting precision eliminations in Marathon can be a challenging task, especially during fast-paced and hectic gunfights. For those who are having some trouble, here are some quick tips to help you get them consistently:
- Focus on getting headshots on UESC enemies: For challenges that simply require precision eliminations, UESC enemies are going to be your best bet. Line up your sights and land your shots on the head to farm them quickly.
- Finish off downed players with headshots: It can often be difficult to land shots on players’ heads. If you manage to down a player, finish them off with a headshot. Any damage to the head will also count as precision damage for challenges that specifically require you to deal precision damage to Runners.
- Equip a scope for long-range weapons to get headshots from a distance: For single-shot weapons like Precision Rifles and Sniper Rifles, be sure to equip long-range sights or even thermal scopes. Doing so will make it much easier to get precision eliminations from afar.
