All Furfrou Forms & How To Unlock Them in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Furfrou and its many different forms are back with Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and players can unlock each ‘haircut’ for this singular Pokemon if they know where to look for an expert trimmer in Lumiose City.
With this guide, players will learn where to find and catch this Poodle Pokemon, and how to unlock Furfrou’s Form change and all its available Cuts in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
Updated December 29, 2025, by Lucas Simons: With The Pokemon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC, a bunch of new Mega Evolutions and certain changes have been made to the meta. Among one of the most notorious changes is a renewed pool for the random trainers appearing in Hyperspace Battle Zones and Regular battle zones, which might include (you guessed it!) Furfrou and its various forms. The method to obtain these singular forms for their favorite dog Pokemon hasn’t changed, but there’s a post-game Side Mission unlocked after completing SM ‘Becoming a Peerless Furfrou Trimmer.’ This mission involves a Furfrou Battle League, so players interested in competing for curious prizes would want to know what the deal is with this Side Mission.
Where to Find Furfrou in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Furfrou is a Pokemon that won’t be appearing until later in Pokemon Legends Z-A, as it can be found in Wild Zone 11 and Wild Zone 17 (where Alpha Furfrou spawns). Once players catch one (or several) of these Pokemon, they will be able to complete the following steps to unlock all of its Cuts (or Forms).
How To Unlock All Furfrou Forms in Pokemon Legends Z-A
To unlock all Furfrou forms in Pokemon Legends Z-A, players need to complete the Side Mission called ‘Becoming a Furfrou Trimmer’ which can be found in Jaune Sector 6, just above the entrance to Wild Zone 11.
There’s an NPC there with a Side Mission, approach her to help her become a Furfrou Trimmer. The objective of this quest is to teach her partner Scyther the movement Slash. So, if players have picked Feraligatr as their starter Pokemon, this will be simple.
If not, any of the following Pokemon will serve the same purpose:
Charmander (and evolutions),
Skarmory,
Gible(and evolutions), Scyther/Sizor, or
Gallade.
Once players have a Pokemon with the movement Slash in their Party, they should approach the Substitute Doll next to the NPC and attack it with Slash, so that her Scyther learns to perfect the move. Once this is done, the Mission will be over, and players will be able to unlock some Furfrou Trims/Forms.
Further ahead, while completing the Main Missions, the Trimmer has another request: Becoming a Pro Furfrou Trimmer. To find a Pokemon that knows the move Razor Leaf.
Chikorita,
Bulbasaur,
Florges, or any other Grass-type that knows this move will do. As before, attack the Substitute Doll with Razon Leaf to unlock more Furfrou Forms.
The last and final Secondary Mission to unlock more Furfrou Forms is called Becoming a Peerless Furfrou Trimmer, and requires players to show Scyther the move ‘Psycho-Cut.’ Gallade or
Kadabra will work.
All Available Furfrou Trims in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Once players complete ‘Becoming a Peerless Furfrou Trimmer’, players should have unlocked every Furfrou Trim available in Pokemon Legends Z-A:
- Heart Trim
- Star Trim
- Debutante Trim
- Diamond Trim
- La Reine Trim
- Matron Trim
- Dandy Trim
- Pharaoh Trim
- Kabuki Trim
It is worth noting that each time players want to change the Form of their Furfrou, they will need to pay 500 Poke Dollars to the Trimmer.
It is recommended that players capture several Furfrou before visiting the Trimmer, so that players can add every possible Form to their collection.
How To Participate in the Furfrou Battle League in Pokemon Legends Z-A
After waiting a day, go back to Jaune Sector 6 and talk to the Furfrou Trimmer once more to trigger Side Mission 103: Facing the Furfrou League.
Players now need to look for and beat five trainers using only Furfrou. They are scattered around Lumiose in the following locations:
- Brill, at Restaurant Le Nah
- Diamant, at Restaurant Le Yeah
- Mie, at Sushi High Roller
- Marta, at Restaurant Le Wow
- Soignee, at Cafe Woof.
To unlock the final battle against Soignee and her trained team, composed of Six Furfrou, players need to first beat the ‘Furfrou Elite Four’ and then track her down to Cafe Woof. Be careful, though, as this battle is extremely hard. As a reward, players will receive Money and a Gold Bottle Cap.
